When you think that next bass is "too expensive"...

Depending on the exchange rate 2800 bucks American is around 3800 bucks Canadian. For that price I could go to Tokyo for a few days, and if I got lucky maybe see a half dozen Japanese bands I like. Club shows seem to be in the forty buck range, and several bands on the same bill is common. If I could get to Tokyo by Friday I could see Little Lilith and Bridear for 45 bucks. And I could spend the daytime exploring Tokyo.

I like Pearl Jam and I greatly appreciate their stand against Ticketmaster (which cost them many millions BITD), but I would have to be much more nonchalant about spending money to pay that to M&G anyone alive.

PS: i just spent $30/ticket to see one of my favorite bands (The Winery Dogs); I bought merch only to be supportive of the band.

Pearl Jam doesn't sound like it would be good on toast with my morning coffee, no matter how much it cost. ;)

Ticket prices have just gotten completely outrageous. I've paid upwards of $250 a piece for concert tickets recently, but it was for huge rock festival type shows (Welcome to Rockville, Rocklahoma, Louder than Life, Beale Street Music Festival, etc). We're talking for 3 or 4 days, all day the tickets are $275 a pop or so. That's around 12 hours of music a day for 3-4 days. Those are worth it. Everything else? Nah.

That's got to be resellers. I saw Pearl Jam last summer (still put on a great show) in Europe and, while I got in for free, tickets were around $70. They're pretty conscientious about wanting to remain affordable.

Played (and recorded) a number of times with Jardine - including a couple gigs with Johnny Rivers. Odd experience (Rivers, that is).

Seems outrageous but I remember back in the 2000s paying $1000 more than a couple times for a pair of great seats to concerts. Expensive? Yes. Worth it (to me)? Yes. Buy memories - not junk.

No way I'd spend that much on a concert. I had to think really hard about spending $500 (x2 with the wife) to see Sting/Gabriel a few years ago. I thought so long about it that tickets sold out and I was fine with keeping that $1000 in my pocket!

I saw Peter Gabriel 3 times in the 80's. When the shows started, he would come from the back of the theatre. The last time I saw him, the lights came down and almost everyone turned to the back.

My wife and daughter just saw Taylor Swift saturday night in philly...they paid $200 a piece for the tickets up the nosebleeds. Dont know what the first 10 rows cost but Im sure alot (assuming they arent corporate seats of course). Place was beyond packed. TS is originally from our town which is an hour from Philly so it was no surprise here but im sure the other dates will be just as packed. Crazy.
