Where are the weirdos?

I'd say I've been involved with some weird musical projects, though few in number and all revolving around myself and my longtime drummer friend. We're both into some out there stuff and really gravitate towards odd meter timings. We're strictly instrumental and are currently working on some material with drum and bass centric jams. The one piece we just worked out this week is in mixed measures of 9/8 and 4/4, effectively making it 17/8 as it breaks the bar line considerably, lol.

"Graig and Larry Nybo are lifelong fans of Space Age Pop-maestro Esquivel. They discovered his music as kids when their mom brought home a box of Lps from a garage sale. They spun his records until the grooves wore off, choreographing dances, acting out scenarios with action figures.
Putting together a show playing Esquivel’s music was a dream which recently came true at the Gangrene Film Festival. Here’s a video from the very first performance by Sparkling Planet, playing the music of Juan Garcia Esquivel:"

[EDIT]- Looks like a party at Elliot and Gretchens place, from Breaking Bad.
I think there's more people on stage, than there is in the audience...
Zappa-esque.
And what is on the bass players headstock???
Wild.

I realize that posting Jethro Tull on this thread is pushing the topic but, if you watch Ian Anderson and listen to their style, it is pretty weird. I'm finally going to learn the whole track. 40 odd minutes of bass busyness. See you all in a month, or so, lol.

Anyone here into weird stuff? In a weird band?

Most of the folks on here seem to be into classic rock, metal, funk, motown, and that's cool, but who's into bands like Swans, Can, This Heat, Neu!, Sonic Youth, Slint, Jesus Lizard, Shellac, Dinosaur Jr., Minutemen, Guerilla Toss, Zappa, Beefheart, Melt-Banana, Boredoms, The Melvins, John Zorn, Ornette Coleman, Sun Ra, Albert Ayler, Pharaoh Sanders, Oxbow, Scott Walker........

And who's in weirdo bands? I'm in a group called XOX (facebook.com/xoxlouisville) - I play bass and synths, we have another synth player, a drummer, and our singer also plays synths. No guitar. We have a few tight, structured songs, but most of the time we improv around a main riff while our "singer" talks and yells. We're not exactly easy listening.
I'm all over a lot of that, namely Melvins, Jesus Lizard, Minutemen, Zappa, Beefheart, Ornette Coleman, Melt-Banana, etc. Don't forget Deerhoof! I like some Pere Ubu too. Il Sogno Del Marinaio. Hypenated-Man from Mike Watt. Whores. Flaming Lips, Primus and Beck can get pretty weird. I've traveled far too see most of that live too.

I was in Spermingham Wunderpants (later called Fecund Farrago), a furiously weird funk & metal band with rare vocals, non-stop changes and odd time signatures. Zappa-influenced kids with no problem weirding people out. Loved every minute of it.

Anyone here heard of/into Sleepytime Gorilla Museum? They're a pretty bizarre avant-metal group with lots of strange grooves and dissonance. Check out Formicary, Donkey Headed Adversary, and Pthisis.
I have not. But one of my friends caught a Sleepytime Gorilla Museum show and really enjoyed it.
