It's very difficult to answer your question. You might regret your choice and blame us for giving you the wrong advice. But hey, if you just want opinions, I voted for the Carvin.

Both are amazing basses and sound wonderfully, even though in the examples you showed the SB sounds better to my ears. I find the sound more precise and more crisp, which I prefer.

It doesn't matter, but we see Sires everywhere, the Carvin is more unique. And it goes very well with your suit. ;)

Nice playing, by the way, your pick sound is very good.

Wow, the vote is super one-sided in favor of my Carvin. My SB5000 is sweet, but the variable mids on the Sire really saved my bacon when I had to get through a very dense mix and loud keyboards. It worked better than the Carvin or Pedulla. That said, I probably could have made up the difference through boosting mids on my amp. I am letting go of some other basses, and possibly my SWR Silverado too. I might just end up with three Jazz Basses.

Below is the situation where the Sire worked better:

My credo: when choosing between two basses always choose the one with the better neck.

This guy gets it.

Electronics can be swapped all day, but neck profile? Might as well be a constant because once altered you'll never be able to revert it. Best neck wins, followed closely by body ergonomics and string spacing (which i believe are both 18-19mm)
