Which pickguard for my hand stained Franken P?

Hi bass mates!

Recently I did a hand staining job on my Precision Bass. Although it was not the color I expected, I really like the result.

I put a white pickguard on the bass, but I think it could look even better with another one!

So... which other pickguard would look better on my hand stained Precision Bass?

Black maybe. Not a lot of options that work with that color. I'd go with white.

The white looks good. As would parchment, mint, or white pearloid.

I have a hand-stained Wine Red Jazz with a black guard. I think it looks okay.

I used to have a St. Blues bass in Transparent Cherry that had a Cream pickguard. Beautiful. I think the Cream looks better when it has a maple board, but would also look good with rosewood.

Well, I hereby rescind my suggestion. We have very different aesthetic opinions.

I tried a white pearloid too! I think mine is too white, maybe an aged white pearloid would look better.

My honest opinion, only black is appropriate. It will help to understate the vivid red.

Typically my leanings are towards Tort. Similar thinking to Tort now, Tort later, Tort everyday-all day. This machine calls for a re-alignment of the planets and a White Pearl, or maybe the Cream.

I vote black...as much as I like a white pearl on darker maroon typ finishes (ie my bass)....black would look great

I tried a RED tort but I don't like it. Maybe a brown tort would do the job.

I love tort. But whatever you do, do NOT try Red Tort on a red bass! This one went off as quick as it went on:

BUT... BROWN Tort can look great on a red bass. Especially with rosewood:

Any tort is better than no tort. Why doesn't everybody get this?

However, I think brown tort is better than red tort on that bass.

Now for the important questions,

What kind of wood, Swamp Ash?
What kind of stain?
Clear top coat or not?
Can you feel the grain or is it sanded smooth? Kinda goes with the question above.

Stained the same color, Stained Black, or left natural with an oil finish. That's a pretty Bass for sure.
