Who here plays low F#? Or lower? What kind of rig/bass do you play on and what genre of music?
I have 2 Conklin GTBD7s, one low F# standard and ine drop C with a low G. I play metal, all of the music is either B or drop C, but I'd like to hit the lower notes here and there. I'm playing through an Ashdown ABM 500 and 2 ABM 410s. They sound great on B and even A, but anything lower, the volume drops a bit and doesn't really boom. I've heard Acme and fEARful are good for lows. Any other suggestions?

I'm pretty sure that most laptop speakers don't quite get as low as a low F#.
I've heard Jauqo III-X play as low as the C# below F#, and I can discern his notes on my laptop speakers...sort of ;) More from the second and third harmonics, but I can do it. However, I have a decent pair of headphones that get it done much better.

I suppose a lot depends on the laptop design, mine sounded like a bad 60's transistor radio, all scratchy and horrible. So bad in act that I never use them.

If I really want to listen to something then I dig out my old Warfedale headphones otherwise it goes through an old 70s HiFi system that got thrown out of the lounge years ago.

Oops, I made a mistake. I said "laptop speakers" when I meant to say "desktop speakers." Nothing special, just some small Altecs. Laptop speaker? What was I thinking? Can't make heads or tails out of bass on them!

I play in drop G, A standard, and drop B. I use a GB ShuttleMax 12.2 and a MarkBass 8x10 CL. Darkglass b7k as my "preamp", and an Idiotbox Blower Box for my dirt. I use a different guitar for each tuning, 5 string corvettes for G and A, and a 4 string fretless corvette for B. Roto swings on the two 5ers and roto pressure wounds on the fretless. I never have a problem with being heard, and none of my lowest notes ever fall flat.

Low F# from what i understand is around 23 Hertz (which is still audible) however most amps, preamps and even the electronics in your bass have started to attenuate the signal at that point, i have been to a few shows with bands that play that low and to be honest the bass player is a bit of an ornament, the only player that was even vaguely audible had 2000 watts on stage with what seemed like a fairly complicated rig with crossovers etc.
That said Jeroen Paul Thesseling sounds awesome on the new pestilance album he has a custom shop warwick thumb with electronics that aid playing in F# and a MILLENNIA MEDIA HV-3C Pre amp which helps also appaerently (looks like more of a microphone pre)
