Who plugs straight in? What do you use?

in the past I would use the old Boss Bass Chorus and/or Octaver pedals...but that was in the distant past.

I'm actually using a Milk Box comp & an OD clone at the moment. I'd survive if I went straight in but I miss the comp when I'm without it.

I run a Fender American Standard Jazz, American Standard Precision or vintage Tele bass straight into an old Fender Bassman 400 over a Bassman 115.

Very nice. That's an old trick-- guitar through bassman--you don't see too many people doing these days.

This is a great question because when I read artists profiles in Bass Player they usually have very little to nothing for effects so why am I wasting my money on all of these pedals please help.

'76 Jazz into Markbass CMD102P. I play in a cover band so I use a few pedals, but love the tone of this amp with just a cable and knobs pretty much set close to noon. I couldn't lug my Ampeg 410HLF around anymore and the weight of the Markbass makes me chuckle every time I lift it. I started on guitar over 20 years ago and started seriously with bass about 6 years ago and have never been happier with my tone on either instrument. I recently added a 102HF cab and in my opinion, it is a sick rig.
