Who's got a favorite strap?

Huh. No, never thought any of them were particularly bouncy, stretchy, or too elastic-y. Are your basses really heavy?
The one I had it on was Modern Player Starcaster Bass. Semi hollow, yet somehow still weighs in at 17.5 lbs! I don't have that bass anymore. My Lado if I remember correctly is around 12 lbs and my Precision is just under 10 lb. But I don't like to just stand still. Maybe I got a defect, idk. I could just feel it stretch a little when I played. And it slid around a lot. If yours works for you though, kudos!

Forty-one years on this strap. Retired but still the best I've owned.

After I wrecked my shoulder in a car accident, I was only able to play for like 10-25 minutes tops standing up with a strap.I ended up trying a few different things. I tried just wider straps, didn't like them. Tried those stretchy jobbies, and honestly they didn't feel terrible, but they looked it, and they bounced around like crazy. I also have one of those planet waves shoulder gel pads. It did give me some relief, but slid around on my strap and often didn't stay where it needed to. Earlier this year I found Well-hung Bass straps on reverb.

Well-Hung Guitar Accessories

They look great, they're very durable and he has quite the variety, but most importantly: I can actually play an entire night without my shoulder falling off. They're all (I think all, let's go with mostly. Most of them are) padded. And well padded. And 3" wide. I loved it so much I bought a 2nd one. I'm not typically one to throw out endorsements, but I do like to weigh in here and there, and these things are worth every penny. And let's be honest, while comfort is everything, a little style and pizzazz never hurtd! Here's a coupe pics of my two basses and their well-hung straps.View attachment 4019598 View attachment 4019599 What are you guys rocking?
It's funny, I have two Fret Slings from the 80's. I believe Fret Sling was a brand offered "exclusively" by Guitar Center. They were curved to wrap around the shoulders and neck properly [i.e. not just straight straps]. I have one in camel, and one in pink suede and I have never used any other strap for 40 years. I had the camel one fixed and sewn and a local shoe repair shop, when it was starting to self-destruct. As I was looking on the web to buy one more I found this Shop Online — FretSling
For $50 these look like a steal to me.

I'd been on the hunt for straps that offered more adjustment range. Saw two RightOn Straps in a store and they went onto my Christmas list and onto my basses and guitars. I've since bought two more. IMO unmatched quality, creative and wide-range length adjustability, and comfort. I am a huge fan. I always loved my Levy straps but will only buy RightOn now. I wish I needed more. They look and feel great!!

Favorite strap or best strap?
One of my favorite straps is a fully functional seatbelt removed from an early '70's Oldsmobile, it's that greasy, tobacco stained red they used to put in a lot of GM cars. Dunlop wide washer modified strap locks sandwiched around stamped steel anchor plates that I had to hammer flat. It's not very comfortable.

I have a couple Italia Leather straps that I use on my #1 fretted and #1 fretless and I am thinking of getting another for convenience, the crema color matches binding on a semi-hollow, hey, that's important.

I tried to like the wide, padded Levy but I just don't. So...my favorite...

Fretsling (I think, it's worn off) from 1979 or who knows.
And you're darn right that's a high school violin solo medal. Proud of it!

Betty Mono strap (long) for me. 3" wide, padded neoprene, steel fittings, fully adjustable, and comes with a plectrum pocket for when you need to bust out a pick. It's a bugger to get it fitted onto the bass, but once it's in place, that sucker is never coming off. Great strap.
