Right now I am really into Rob Derhak of moe. Great lines, tasteful, appropriate and musical slapping that isn't overdone, great pocket all the time and great runs when needed.

I'm not blown away by his tone (I liked his early tone better) but I am a huge fan of his style, note choices and technique.

I'm going to see moe in 2 weeks and can't wait!

Too hard to pick a favorite over all others, for me anyway. I like different players for different reasons and to pick just one over all others would rule out other styles of playing and other styles of music. Just thinking about who I *could* name as my one favorite changed about 5 times just while I was typing this.

Just to throw out a name, maybe Paul McCartney?

Dan Briggs of Between the Buried and Me. Can play really technically well and is very expressive. Doesn't get caught up in having every single one of his parts be the the most interesting thing in the world, he just makes everyone else sound really freaking good. If I could write parts like him...

I agree. Dan Briggs is insane. I just met him a few months ago when btbam played with underoath. He is a nice guy to, actually the whole band was nice.
