Why are Aguilar pedals so expensive?

I don't think they are compared to some of the other pedal brands out there.

I would almost say they are cheap for their quality. When you compare them to other mass produced pedals like EHX and MXR they may seem expensive but I think their quality is at a much higher level.

+1. They are no more or less expensive than others, which is actually pretty impressive. They aren't exactly a boutique builder, but I doubt they are putting out as much product as Boss, MXR, or EHX is, so to be having the quality and development they do at the prices they list is incredible.

I'm curious as to what you define as "expensive"? I guess if you are coming from a place of Behringer being a norm, then maybe they are. I see lots of boutique pedals well into the $200-300 range, so I think they are quite reasonably priced (if not cheap, as noted above).

There is also the option to buy Aggie pedals used, with some pretty great deals to be had on a few of them.

Like others have said, they aren't expensive. They aren't going to be as cheap as an MXR for example, but they aren't mass-produced like MXR either. By the way, I like MXR as a company, and some of their bass pedals are nice, but many of them sound pretty lack-luster. All of Aguilar's stuff is awesome sounding. The construction is way more rugged, and you can tell they do their R&D when building these pedals. They are all assembled in the U.S., in New York City of all places, so all that adds to the cost also. Top notch customer support which is easily accessible. Aguilar as a company has all the integrity you could ask for so there is nothing to worry about in using their products. In the end if they are a bit out of your price range, then that is understandable, but I think Aguilar does a great job of making boutique-like products at a reasonable cost while guaranteeing consistency from item to item. I have 4 Aguilar pedals currently, with two more coming in very soon.
