I Rest my bass!
DOH! My apologies for not paying enough attention. She!
And of course she is right about the quality of a lot of demos (there are tons ofon YouTube!)

These guys do the best demo's that I've seen....
Both pick and fingers used....Thorough description of the bass and, in this case, a tasty version of Zep's 'No Quarter' to finish...
I bought my Joker on the strength of this vid....
Great decision!....![]()

This. Imagine that...A thorough bass demo would include at least a bit of fingerstyle and pick and slap playing.
A professional bass player doesn't need to be good at every technique, they just need to be good at the techniques that the genres they typically play call for.
Demo makers aren't all professionals. Surprise!
I undeestand that, but I just dont understand why every demo I have tried to watch for the past 2 days is played only with a pick. I find it very unprofessional, and I only just started trying to play, but reall. . Comon sence...
and "sense", but we digress...Comon sence is commonly spelled with 2 M's.
Plenty use a pick. I'll bet none of them use a pick ONLY and never anything else. That is what the OP was talking about, not the use of a pick at all."and I only just started trying to play" yet you are experienced enough to determine what is unprofessional?
How many great bass players can we name that use a pick?
No, what is rediculous is all the big ego man that are offended for the pick, barking at me, for something I didnt say, but they want to make it sound that way so they can bark some more,
And since this thread became so distorted and off what I really meant, I will leave it, and wont reply anymore, or if possible, ask to delete it.
Many thanks for those who understood what I meant and answered informatively

Mannnnn you dont think she ever copped a Jamerson hook? You KNOW she could if she wanted to!Hi DDXdesign
I know a bunch of pros that used only picks!
Carol Kaye is one of them! You can' t get more professionnel.

She even has her own signature pick!

But that has nothing to do about what we expect (or not) of a good bass demo!
