Buy a relic if you want, I don't really care.
To the contrary. You apparently care so much that you are willing to hurl insults and names at those who choose to play these instruments.

The neck on every Fender RW bass I have ever played like BUTTA'...
I don't own any relic-ed basses but some of them look great to me...YMMV.
+1
I do not care for the fake RW look but I would never insult or laugh at someone who likes that look. That is just what I would expect from an immature person with self esteem problems.

The Road Worn are very nice instruments. It's not the "worn" part that makes them good, it's the craftsmenship and setup. They would sound and play just as good without the relic job.
I usually avoid these RW rehash threads like the plague .. but its 95 degrees outside and killing time before I need to go do yard work, so I ended up in here ...
... just a quick question before this thread gets shut down .. would you care to direct me to WHERE I can find 'the same guitar without the faux wear on it' for anywhere near the same money??
... BTW, I have owned several of the Classic Series 60's Jazz, played '62 AVRI's, and even owned and toured with an actual '66 oval tuner Jazz with dots/no binding back around 1970... and for the life of me, I haven't been able to find what you are telling me I can ... so if you could direct me to it, I would be happy to pick one up, just so I didn't offend anyone that presumptuously thought I was trying to imply/pretend that I might have actually owned/played the real thing 40+ years ago ... thanks![]()

It is the feel of the bass that makes them so nice. If all the the people that put down the RW's were blindfolded and handed one to play they would change their mind.
Judge a bass by it's feel, tone and playability. Not looks

play one and be AMAZED!!!
i'll be plunking down the cash for a relic'd Fender some day. regardless of anything, these models simply out-play that shiny, sticky finished stuff! i've tried the Road Worn and CS Relic series and they are sooo much more fun to play. (i also LOVE the beat-up look)
...People overlook it and usually, for some reason, seem to avoid it. ( probably because it looks dirty, lol )
I can see investing in a collector's item, but otherwise I'll make my own memories thanks.
