why did you have children?

Lucky you... I have a special needs son, will be with us till we die, or until janitorial jobs at fast food establishments pay a living wage.

My youngest son has Down syndrome. I hope he is able to become self-sufficient, or at least able to live in a semi-independent group home not far from where we live. I wouldn't be too upset if he lives with me and my wife for the rest of our lives though. He's a good boy and he's my little buddy.

I wasn't offended at all. I had my wife all to myself a few days ago for our 9th anniversary and I told myself, "Someday, I'll have her to myself again. At least most of the time!" Then she got me real drunk and I don't remember much after that.

When sex cells go through meosis, they split into four pairs and go through the process of recombination, each with 23 chromosomes. You get 23 of those chromosomes from you father and 23 from your mother. Genetically, you're about equally related to your father as your are your mother.

The concept of being "more related" to your father in a patrilineal (or your mother in a matrilineal) culture is a social construct that really has nothing to do with biology. The same can be applied to the concept of a last name in Western society.

yesterday, my oldest son DROVE to my house to drop off my bass amp....first time ever... This was the kid that I used to carry around when he was colicky, he used to puke on me when he was sick and I was carrying him around... and pee on me when I was changing his diapers... now the kid's driving.. DRIVING!! :bawl::bawl::bawl:

I'm actually really shocked to hear you have a son driving.
I remember seeing the pic of your pit with someone laying next to it and assumed that was you. I guess that was your son then?

Every person that I have ever met with Down syndrome was so genuinely happy and sweet. They always seemed to like everyone equally and want to help and be everyone's friend. I'm sure that your son is the same.
