Why do I continue to read and listen to TalkBass

Also I like listening to the music.... I like listening to. I mean I respect everybodys opinion. I even made mistakes with buying an amp that was recommended to me on talk Bass for the sound I was seeking. I could not wait to sell that amp. So why do I visit and as of late (not always have and was a big fan in some ways) find it unpleasant. I don't want to feel this way.

I have no idea why you keep coming here if you don't like it. But I have an idea WHY you might not like it anymore. I believe we get what we want (or what we're looking for) out of talkbass. As with many other things in life. Seems you focused on what annoys you and that's what you're honing in on. To be honest, while I'm sure you can find threads proving your points, I've never seen anyone doing the things you claim in your OP. I've yet to see someone say one wood is better than another, or flats better than roundwounds, or any of what you claim. I hear people say they like things and tell why they like them, but I think you've got some weird twist on it all and now that's what you're focusing on. And you're finding it. When people ask what the best bass for metal is I see them getting slammed all over the place for asking a stupid question. I have 3 suggestions. Quit doing what you're doing. Quit talkbass. Or find yourself a good therapist. :)

Welcome to the 'you have finally figured out what works for you' club!' Now pay it forward and pass the valuable experiences born of your experiences to newbies and other TB'ers. At this point, it would be wrong to read posts with your own selfish at heart...Pay it forward brutha and focus on the needs of your fellow TB'ers in need! Invest in the bruthahood!

I'll tell you this, Talkbass will make you spend money. The gear makers must LOVE this place.

Talkbass will also make you completely insecure about everything bass related-- so many conventions and rules. And I'm not talking about BS preferences-- real laws of physics and electronics.

I do learn things but it usually means forking out money.

If your a woman then u must have your period or something to that effect. If you are a man then you have a mangina and again you are having your period or something like that.

Good Advice. Makes sense. Interesting the many reactions to the thread. Some are funny. Amazing the ones who feel insulted. I feel they think, that I think either negatively about them for being on TB or I'm " focused on what annoys you (me) and that's what you're (I'm) honing in on:". Even when I say I respect peoples opinions.

And...it's just an internet website. Rather than ask why you continue to read TalkBass, I'd ask why do you take it so seriously? It's just an online forum. It's supposed to be fun and it CAN be informative if you consider the advice, opinions, and experiences of others. Only a fool would take action based solely on someone else's opinions or advice.

Relax! I find TB to be the most fun and civil forum online, but I have noticed that sometimes some people start taking it WAY TOO SERIOUSLY. TB is full of the opinions of people who you will probably NEVER meet. People who just feel compelled to either share something in order to help, or share something to vent off in some way. When you read someone's writing, you can't hear the tone of their voice or see facial expressions so we miss alot of the communication they are sharing because we don't have the verbal cues. Sometimes posts (including mine) come across as harsh or judgmental when they were never intended that way. It's just very hard to have a conversation with a stranger through the written word only. That's why it's important not to take it too seriously or let your emotions start taking over. Don't get so wrapped around the axel about it. It's just the internet--this isn't your real life, know what I mean?
