Why does TalkBass love the P Bass so much?

Whenever these threads come up people always talk about the pee bass being the original. But most people on this thread are not talking about the original single coil P. bass.
2 Pbasses walk into a bar. Of 4/4. Swingin'.
It's like the Telecaster for guitarists - every pedal & amp is designed to work well with it.
Nice one. That is THE sound! I remember playing that over and over in my flat when I started bass (ahem) some years ago. Still playing it just the other day, trying to get that sound on my J with Labellas. Pretty close, but not quite the P bass sound. Have to dig in a lot.
It was when I joined back in 2007. People would come out of the wallpaper to tell you how much a “one trick pony” a P bass is, and how only “old men play them.”

True, but on the other hand, a Stingray sounds nothing like a clarinet.
Heck G&L, and the original Stingray were Leo's designs and essentially P's. Actives are ok, I really liked my Stingray 30th anniversary, but that's gone now (ripped off) and currently sport an upgraded '91 Cort P (old school specs) and a fretless Coronado F-Jazz. Both passives, but I cetainly have a preamp/eq in the chain that gets used on occassion.
It's all good.
If I was on the market right now for a jazz bass I might be looking at the Cort Jeff Berlin model. But that would have to be a Hands-On assessment, I think the Fender Am Pro 2 on market are really nice. I've seen a couple around used and I even picked one up that was a 2021, I am real happy with it.

I started playing bass when I was 16 and I’m 37 now. I never liked the P, I thought it was really plain and boring looking. Throughout the years of trying different style basses, somewhere in my 20s I’ve landed on P basses as they just have and do everything I want. My basses don’t have the “standard P bass look”, no tort or sunburst (and never will), but sonically nothing else comes close to my ears.
Interestingly enough I don’t like 5 string Ps, so that’s the only time I don’t use a P.

I think of Ps like white collared shirts. Other colors look nice, but a white shirt will match any outfit and will never look inappropriate.
What blows my mind is the TB attitude that a PJ can’t get a “true” P sound.
