My point is that a musician should not have to like music to appreciate it. I appreciate and respect a lot music that I personally do not enjoy. IME, that is part of learning music

Would you mind naming some of these musicians, and illustrating their nationwide/worldwide influence? Would many people outside of the Twin Cities area even know who they are? Have they had a huge variety of well-established, highly-accomplished music industry professionals, who clearly are not starry-eyed fanboys and fangirls, singing their praises over the past three decades? Do they have video after video and recording after recording demonstrating their prowess as singers, all-around musicians, stage performers and producers?
L.A. , New York, Nashville are music meccas, Minneapolis was never that, Prince went to L.A. to be famous, he didn't stay around here, we don't have that sort of business structure. He eventually moved back here after he became famous and set up shop, those are some facts

Its on my DVR. Have not seen it yet, neither has my 16yo daughter, who recorded it. She is well aware of Prince, thanks to my introduction of her to his music going back to about the age of 10. She was puzzled by the selection of Madonna as well, although she knows who she is, she's not a fan. More like, simply indifferent to her.

I thought I was merely responding, in general, to some of the posturing I'm seeing by numerous individuals elsewhere on the web and in the media. I'm not at all sure what anybody may or not be expecting of me.
