Why would anyone not play bass?

Don't be silly... Infants aren't playing the bass, but that's only because they can't get their hands around the neck yet. There's two kinds of people in this world, bass players and future bass players.
I AM the fat guy that plays bass at the front of the stage who also sings lead and backing vocals.
Things I told myself before buying a bass:
-Basses are lame
-Bassists are the butt of most band jokes, and there must be a grain of truth behind the jokes
-Bassists only have to remember a few notes; they're not as good of musician as a lead guitarist
It wasn't until I saw those $150 Squier Bronco basses that I decided I wanted to pick up a bass...the shopkeep upsold me to the Ibanez in my avatar, and the rest is history. I brought it home, plugged it into my Playstation with Rocksmith 2014, and was sucked into each song like I never was before, on guitar.

Me neither, playing bass IS FUN, but I do not use a pick, maybe it is less fun with a pick...?
I agree, and based on personal experience, have found that sober drummers are ALL future bass players, and DRUNK drummers are ALWAYS trying out my bass!

I interpret that differently. Seems to me that all drummers are future drunks that can't keep their hands off other people's kit.
How late in the day are the drummers you know getting drunk and handling your bass? Is it after closing time? After happy hour? Afternoon? Or, after breakfast?
