Why would anyone not play bass?

- They did at first, but once they got proficient they switched to guitar.

- They want to play a different instrument, .....one that people actually know exists.

- Guitars are all the bass you need.

- Bass is the left side of a Keyboard.

- It's too easy, they wanted something challenging.

- They like to use picks.

- Not everybody enjoys fishing.

The recorder for sure. Being forced to play Beethoven's 9th symphony on the recorder IS the reason I hated music in elementary school.

The uncool instrument are the triangle, the accordion, and the oboe. Tambourine and cowbell could also be considered uncool, but it depends on the player.

Tambourine is for when someone needs something to do onstage...

Three run to the guitar.

Two run to the drums.
One gets them.

The last one sighs and walks over to the bass.

Nobody is above playing a bass. I don't think a guitarist should be gigging if he can't get a competent bassist.

My parents started me on accordion in 1961. It definitely wasn't what I considered cool but they thought Myron Floren was great...and he was.

I asked myself why and man oh man is it circular and redundant. I think in fairness, we need more WHAT, WHO, and WHERE threads to balance this out, we're listing to starboard . . . . .

I totally agree but:
- WHAT are we going to post about?
- WHO is going to get it started?
- WHERE are we going to post it, bass, strings, amps, classified?
- And WHY was WHICH left out?
