Not sure. Level seemed okay. Have seen some local guys bust out some sweet Alembics and eq all the mids out. Might work if you have a wall of sound.

Yeah I heard it fine on my headphones. Not something that I could or would attempt to pull off so I won't comment on the playing but in terms of the mix relative to the backing track, I have no issues.

Yep, donna lee in 300ish bpm. Not easy on the bass (any bass) but that was just the theme. Show us some of his improvisational capabilities on that tune as well.Cheers Doc!

I have been sleepy and kind of dragging. I just finished a couple of high pressure situations and was mentally shot. I just listened to the track again and I could hear him clearly. I will only say I would have to play it at about 1/3 the tempo he attempted. The bass does have a great tone as one would expect of an Alembic.

I don't know cheese, sounds like a bass to me. In fact, it has more of a piano like tone than the piano.

Too bad dude was just trying to show off. Because bass, all basses, sound like utter crap when you play that fast.

He is shifting there but I think dialling down the tempo just a tad to get the notes locked up with the music would be a good move. But, the player there is very close to having it nailed.

Bah... I remember in the eighties when the slap technique was the "soup du jour". All I could hear was an obnoxious clickety clickety clack... that had NOTHING in common with the thing we love called music. On the video here, it seems to me more of a speed race than actually playing "music". Donna Lee (track dedicated to Lee Konitz, IIRC) would shine if played at half that speed. Let's be musical in the first place...

i know he's trying to improve speed and finger placement but.....maybe a modern jazz fusion exercise. Like you said the backing track is a bit too high making the guy think he's really that good... That is actually a good practice regiment.
