I believe that "use of parts & services by others, with credit" was already addressed as being OK, so I can't see that teamwork would not be...

Got my raw materials in the mail yesterday. Hoping to showcase some of the heartwood/sapwood contrast!
I’m not blabbing my plans too early (unlike some of you
), but I think that longest board will be used as the foundation for a neck-through design. I’ve only ever done one other neck-through, and I found it cumbersome, so obviously I need more practice!

The thing I really like about walnut is you can put on a minimal finish of oil, or go full blast with a lacquer, or then again a water based finish, and it will look great. All day, any day
On a completely different note, I will be going out to canvas other building sites and invite people to join in on our little adventure here.
I don't want to contact every site under the sun, and I don't want to bring in too many foreigners, but I would like to grow the number of contestants a bit.
If you have any sites that you know of and/or are a part of, let me know. I'd like to extend an invitation

Thanks, yes. I find it's difficult to get straight grained walnut - I had to look through like 50 pieces to find these.
A good friend of mine just dropped off a load for me to play with the other day...
Big, rough cut planks of walnut that have probably been sitting in a warehouse for 20+ years. And some big, table-top sized ones that have cracked (which is fine for basses!). And also, cedar planks, though I'm not sure what I'm going to do with those yet.
Needless to say, I'm pretty sure I'm ready. And if anyone is in need, I'm sure I can spare some.

I just bought some maple off this guy, & his prices are ...well they're not too bad...considering what I have seen elsewhere. He has a little bit of fairly interesting walnut.

I'm a bit jealous of all you people who can just pop into the local lumber store and find decent wood, a few local lumberyards carry walnut, stickered in unheated sheds, of questionable moisture content, but it's like "we might have some figured stuff, you can come dig through the pile". The closest serious hardwood lumberyard is nearly 1.5 hour drive away. None of my local HD's carry maple boards either, just pine, poplar, or PVC. I'm in a Lumberhole!

You do know that this is the best way to get beautiful boards for $7/bf, right?
Yeah - the folks that sort the figured stuff tend to do it for $40/BF. The unsorted pile in the shed is definitely what you want, unless you are short on time and long on cash.
No walnut, but if my vapid brain remembers the next time I'm headed your way I'll try to remember to toss in a few boards from the maple/ash/hickory/black birch/cherry/popple (not tulipwood)/oak/whatever-the-heck pile. Most recently I was on a tight schedule for a wedding not quite on the cape, and I'm all the way the other end of the state so it's not a casual trip from here. More like a 4 hour slog.
