Not sure on the corkscrew, none of the band drink wine regularly. And it would be awkward as hell trying to open a bottle of wine with a full size bass. Not to mention, it's PURE WHITE! Oh, the stains...
Maybe next year, I'll consider a full bar set on board though.

Man, that dulled finish on those is beautiful.

The bass is gonna be satin white with satin black hardware. I actually did a high polish on the bottle opener at first, but changed my mind when it seemed to stick out too much.

The frets are the only thing super shiny, but I may have to make them dulled as well. Hmmmm...

Two swipes with a grey scotchbrite pad. Bam! Satin frets. Or just reduce your standards to slightly hack like me, problem takes care of itself.

Any corkscrew addition should be of the retractable variety, for obvious reasons.

I usually do my frets up to 2000 grit paper, then buff them with Mother's Billet Polish and a Dremel. I figure skipping the polish would probably do just fine. Maybe even only go up to 1500.
Oddly enough, I'm just crowning them today anyway, so we'll see shortly.

And I'll search my drawers for corkscrews. A Swiss Army Knife wasn't really intended to be mixed into this mash-up, but it could count for extra credit perhaps?

On a separate note, I was just thinking the other day about how a deadline on a bass build should be like that feeling when I've ordered a bass to be delivered and I wait for it. That "pre-NBD" feeling, you know?
Well, I'm feeling it...

Today was both rewarding and sucky.

First off, the drop A mechanism: So many times in this process I wanted to delete it. And I should have. The entire ordeal was a nightmare, it took me all day today. THREE TIMES, I went to the hardware store. Hours of trial and error and the results are still not exactly to my liking (to put it nicely).
But it will pass the test for entry.

Aside from THAT, the rest is pretty hot. I'm going to definitely finish this tomorrow.

And @dwizum, you described the exact idea I was hoping for...

Gonna crack a well deserved beer and dream of wiring.

I have to say, I also really like the fact that this "headless" bass has a headstock, just no tuners. It lets you use the headstock purely as a design element. Really nice to see it add to the design, rather than this just being yet another "headless" bass that where the neck just suddenly ends after the nut.

@postalflunkie, if you ever find yourself near Millersburg, check out Keim Lumber. Most of the maple I used in this build was from the clearance section. But they have an INSANE amount of awesome wood.
