@TerribleTim68 I borrowed your pic from your Diva thread. Between the free Adobe PS express and MS paint, I managed to turn it into a B&W jpeg so I could monkey with it.
I figure if all goes well on the build, I'll shoot ya 15% credit. If all the wheels fall off, 85% blame.
That's 100% so the math works out.

Thanks but I don't have a program to open it and would probably hurt myself if I did.
I just need something to get a visual and work out a few kinks.
I'll probably end up drawing the full size by hand.

I work with a visual too. One that's full-size and 3-D.

I cut a full size body shape from paper and lay it on the body blank. On that I put things like pickup, bridge, etc. These can be either the object itself or a mock-up thingy of similar size.

Then I lay the neck in place. Something supports the neck so it's not tilted. On the headstock I put a full size drawing of the headstock's intended shape.

And that's my visual. Life size. Tangible. It has to be that way for me. Scale drawings, whether on a sheet of paper or on a computer screen, tell me nothing.

Yeah, 2D drawings don't tell ya much. I did a full size carving of the body from rigid foam, to test ergonomics.
The 2D drawings are more to see what different colors and shapes look like together.

Calling @Beej ... where would purchased neck blanks and pre-slotted finger boards fit within this year's rules? They are in-stock at my local parts distributor and cheaper than buying a piece of maple.

Pre-slotted fingerboards are fine - that's my standard operating procedure too. LMII will slot the board for $9; why wouldn't you take them up on that?? Just don't do any machining on it.

The pre-fab neck blanks are a little different - it's more than a rectangular slab of wood, so it crosses the line into the "partial" category IMHO. There's nothing wrong with that.

@ctmullins raises an interesting point here - do these indeed count as "neck blanks"? I tried to Google this, it's rather inconclusive.

Well isn't that an interesting quandary. Right off, I thought "partial build" but then again, these are not complete necks. In fact it looks like it's only a selected piece of wood that's been rough cut (but not sanded) to a Fenderoid shape. Is that the case?

If so, then it may be more akin to a pre-slotted, pre-radiused fretboard... thinking cap is on...

It's a piece of wood in a rectangular cross section, the hard parts (routing the truss rod channel, cutting the headstock thickness, and shaping the neck profile) aren't done yet. To me, that's pretty much scratch building.
