The 2 feelings that are tied for 1st place as the ones I hate the most are, that sick, sour, crampy, lower abdomen discomfort that comes with the food poisoning runs,.... and negative assessment from the internet.

Winter Build Off 2022 - Get Ready

Spend some time on twatter. That will cure you of ever caring what anyone thinks of you ever again.
I'm good. I tried joining FB 100 yrs ago because a friend was trying to fix me up with his next door neighbor (probably to get her out of his/his wife's hair) and he said to join FB because that's how everyone talks now. I made an account and spent about 5 min on it. I told him to keep FB and his neighbor.
The only time my feelings get hurt a little is when I get a negative reaction from an animal or baby/little kid. Most adult humans find me odd and unapproachable. At least that's what I read. But kids and animals seem to get me. So, when one doesn't like me, it hurts my feelings a little.
Just a little though. I usually assume they're a brat or something is wrong with them.

Speaking of something being wrong with something, they threw away one of those wall-hung cabinet style whiteboard things at work a while back. It had a solid oak frame so I busted it up and kept the oak. It had 1/8" hard board tacked to the back with small nails and they all stayed in the oak when I pulled it apart. I thought I had them all pulled out but one apparently broke off. When I was trying to resaw it, the tip of the nail grazed the blade and ruined it. It still feels sharp to the touch, but it won't even cut pine now.
Oh well, I ordered another one.

Same here. We could start a club, but I have a feeling the meetings would be awkward.
Well, you're on up on me. Kids just think I'm strange, especially when I'm dressed as a clown. I'm great with dogs, cats too, even though I generally don't like cats.
So, I figured out how to print out my MS paint drawings to scale on just a regular little home printer.
I just taped all the pieces together and it's bang on 34" from the nut to the saddles.
The only thing is that the upper horn looks really small and skinny.
Oh well. This isn't the final drawing and I'll probably merge it somewhat with foamarleaux© shape. I just thought it was cool that I could get a full size drawing from the crude tools I have available.

Dumb newb Q for today. If I was to cut a board in half to make a bookmatched top, and I wanted the final finished thickness to be 1/4", how thick would it need to be when I started. I assume the blade will take 1/8 or 3mm or so? I found some boards in the store here that might be suitable.
I bought a resaw blade for the band saw at work and the blade is pretty thin. If the board was very straight and didn't need to be planed down much and the cut was pretty clean, I'd say 5/8" min.
If I was using a different method with a thicker blade and/or needed to plane the wood down a good amount, I'd feel more comfy starting with a 3/4" board.

There are quite a few high level musicians & music industry professionals ... on FB.
I use it mostly for free advertising... and it has worked out fairly well.
Case in point....
I have an upcoming 5 bass batch build... (pending).
The client called me, on the advice of his friend who saw my work on FB.
His friend's name?
Joey DeMaio...yeah... of MAN-O-WAR
... follows Rockhewer Custom Guitars on FB.
I could go on.... I kinda like FB.

Facebook can be a good tool. I have a personal page but I do not post anything personal or that could identify me. Mostly it is a springboard for other pages for my instrument builds and antique car restoration work. Again nothing personal or that could identify or locate me. I did have to go through a few months of deleting ads and labelling them as irrelevant to me but now I don't get any. I guess their algorithms got the message that I do not want anything.That is AWESOME!!

Yeah, I'm with @Rôckhewer here. FB is exactly what YOU make of it. I keep my friends list trimmed pretty small, less than 90 people at the moment, and that includes family (so yeah Rock, you're one of the chosen few). I'm very stingy with my friends list, if you aren't adding quality to my life, you're gone, I don't need it. I'm ruthless about it, but I don't care, it's my life and I won't accept others mucking it up. If you wanna share in my stupid dad-jokes, you become a good friend. If you start turning everything into political hatred, you get the ban-hammer!
The biggest thing I use FB for are groups, and even there I'm very selective about what groups I join. Like the ads stated, there's a group for everything. I am in woodturning groups, where fellow turners share ideas, projects and lift others up. I'm even in a "YouTube woodworkers" group where we all help each other build our channels bigger, we share insight on how to do that, what works, what doesn't, what we need to change, accomplishments we've achieved, all that. There's the AMC groups that help me find parts for my extremely rare, non-mainstream classic muscle cars. So yeah, it's literally exactly what YOU make it. If you wanna run around sharing political conspiracy theories and hatred, there's groups for that too! But I refuse to be a part of that.
Some of the things I follow on FB are Rockhewer Custom Guitars, our very own @Triad's Prometeus Guitars, our very own @rick0link's Beardly Customs, our very own @dwizum's 96 Art Custom Instruments and various other things like Bonehead Guitars and Fanblade Guitars. I've become really good friends with Scott at Bonehead over the past year or so, he has been very helpful just encouraging me with my first build. Geoff at Fanblade was another one that I connected with from the tubes and he too has been very supportive of my build. It's interesting to talk to these people who are well known YouTube builders and then you find out they are literally just like you. They get stuck from paralyzing fear, just like you. They make mistakes, just like you. They search for ways to fix those mistakes, just like you. So the encouragement from them has been huge.
FB isn't as horrible as some say, it's all in how you use it and how you refuse to let it use you.
The biggest thing I use FB for are groups, and even there I'm very selective about what groups I join. Like the ads stated, there's a group for everything. Sounds great, in the context of how you guys use it.
Back when I was introduced to it, I was fairly new to internet-based socializing. At the time, I think I was just getting used to a sport bike forum that I had just joined and was the only online thing I did. The FB layout was a little too busy and hard to make sense of for me. Plus, I wasn't using it to stay in touch with distant family, or professional/recreational peer groups to exchange trade tips or advertise work, etc. The context in which I saw it being used was literally people posting about their trip to the dentist and what they had for lunch. I was told it was a good way to get ahold of people. But I quickly realized that people weren't using it in place of a telephone to get together and make plans. It seemed like everyone was just sitting at home, posting completely uninteresting nonsense. Really? You don't want to get together and do something? Yu want to sit on your couch all night, ignoring your children, while you complain about a toothache? Then I met my in-laws 6-7 yrs ago and saw that they were constantly on FB, gossiping, obsessed with what everyone else was doing/buying, and my 40 yr old BIL and his wife were constantly posting about their vacations and how wonderful their lives and children were,.....but when I was around them, they paid zero attention to their children. Because they spent every waking second of their life posting on FB and competing with all the other people on FB, constantly posting about all the life they weren't actually living. They go on vaca and spend the whole time taking pics of their kids and scenery to post on FB. So, if you look on FB, it looks like they have this wonderful family and have the best time in the world with their kids on vaca. If you're actually with them in person? Their faces are buried in their phones the whole time, they don't say 2 words to their kids and they're miserable people.
So, yeah, based on the way I've seen it used and the people I've seen using it,....it didn't seem like something I would have any use for. But that's me.
