Either that or the radiation. But I’ve had tinnitus ever since. But hey, I’m still here to complain about it so guess it worked out for the best.

Mine too! I’m hoping it reaches a pitch so hi, my old ears can’t hear it anymore.Yeah, mine is a wayyyyy higher pitch than this, but I get it.
Quoted for truth. I'm sure it was the chemo for me. Like I said, I heard it get louder almost as soon as that needle went in me. But yeah, still here to complain, so we got that going for us.
So I totally screwed up the tailpiece.
The upper holes are too high. But I drilled the holes in the body at a slight angle, and with pan head screws, it may not be so bad. Geez, what was I thinking setting those holes 1/4" down?
I think you're going to be fine. Those screws are only preventing torsional rotation of the bridge. Most of the force from the strings will be on the angle where it meets the body.
Thanks, yeah, you're probably right. I did drill a third hole lower down in any event.
I'm also almost done with the nut. Just some final adjustments once the frets and strings are in place.
Interesting. I hadn't thought about grounding. I'm not sure that the pickup I'll be using requires it. I'll have to think about this, and read the literature on the pickup.

I'm all set up to start fretting tomorrow.
Started fretting today.
Finished pressing the frets.
Started filing the fret ends.
I'll probably put a few coats of clear on the neck at this point, before I file any further, just to protect the filings from getting into the grain. I'll probably start that tomorrow, if it's warm enough. It's getting close to freezing at night, and mid 5o's during the day. That's not quite warm enough to paint, but I can run the heater in the shop for a while to warm things up.

I've got 3 coats of clear on the neck now. I'll probably spray one more coat, let that dry, and continue fretting.
Finished filing down the fret ends. At some point, I'll have to start leveling the frets, and dressing the ends. But at least now, I can pick up the neck without gouging my hands. Also made sure all the tuners fit and worked. I have no idea where these came from. I have some bridge parts coming tomorrow, so I can either start working on that, or work on the rear of the body, which needs some further sanding before I paint it.
You going for a solid color on the front? Or are you going after one of their brown sunbursts?
I'm thinking that I'm going with black, to match my 34" scale Ovation bass.
My compressor took a dive last year (or was it the year before?) so I have no spray ability. That rules out any kind of burst, or even most solid colors. I have that black Duratex, which offers that textured look, which is what I'll be using on the bowl. I'll probably just carry that around to the front as well.
