These are pretty snazzy. They look beautifully made. Like a Carl Thompson, but without the Wishbass style woodwork!

Great thread and I am loving all these pictures. It's nice to see so many great basses in one place! I wish I could have made it myself, Jeff Berlin and Stuart Hamm were both on at the Markbass booth and I believe Jeff was also appearing at the Cort booth.

True...but I find that sprinkling that in when it is not expected can help the mood of a thread sometimes even moreso than a nice looking bass. Perhaps I should just rephrase my ask...

Those Padalka basses are crazy, really striking design.

Really cool guy too. I was right across the aisle from the Boutique Showcase the last two years, it's just nuts.

Yep, but everybody is just making what actually sells. So blame the customer base, not the luthiers. I pretty much just ignore all those basses, personally. Plenty of other fish in the sea still.

Word was they were merely being tweaked...perhaps with the triangular pickups from the 5-string 4003.

I must say that - from what I've seen so far - there's very little that appeals. Even from brands I ordinarily like, it seems that NAMM is taken as an opportunity to present the gaudiest paint jobs and most highly (dis)figured woods. Not my thing at all.

I guess in the sea of fish that is NAMM the shiny bait gets the bite.
