I just put a white pearloid pickguard on my Blue Dawn Sterling…I like it! Might go with black at some point, but I’m digging this now…

Oh, and I vote with the guard…I like the black pearl!

I’m with the Stingray needs a PG group, although yours looks okay without it,
because the finish sparkles.

If it was a solid color it wouldn’t be as attractive w/o a PG.
Clear is the same as w/o from a distance so what’s the point.
If the question is perloid or no perloid, the answer is no perloid. Ever.

I agree except I’ll say “hardly ever” instead, especially black perl.


We have a winner if you do perl.

For some reference, here is mine with a white ice pickguard and a plan black one laying on top. I felt the plain black one did a better job at bringing out of the paint color.

IMHO, black dulls down dark colors ordinarily,
but in your case not so much because of the sparkles.

But I still like the white much better,
it gives the overall look more contrast.
