Amana is the other brand that slipped my mind.
Yes. Buy as you need--there are certainly more bit types out there than are used normally for guitar work. The only set I have is a roundover set by CMT. Otherwise, it is a series of different types of top or bottom bearing pattern bits by Freud and Amana. Each of those was determined by what I needed to do at the time. No need to get crown molding bits unless you favor that look on your guitar!

The cost is very high otherwise! There are numerous other bits that are fantastic for your router sled as well, depending on how much wood you need to remove per pass. That only represents a fraction of the styles of bit available on the market. If you are doing primarily guitar building, why clog up your bit shelf/bin/box/rack with bits you will not use (often)? <<<clutter>>> eeeeee
That, and a good Freud bit will cost ~ $30, so there is that....Amazon is also your friend here!
And again, safety! I'd really not want to muck around with a cheap chunk of sharp metal spinning at ~ 28k RPM!! If I had to choose two replaceable things to spend extra cash on, it would be well-made router bits and table saw blades.
