I tend not to like distortion on a bass myself. On the other hand the WL often asks for distortion on the electric guitar so I have no particular reason to think he would object to effects on the bass signal, distortion or otherwise.

I tend not to like distortion on a bass myself. On the other hand the WL often asks for distortion on the electric guitar so I have no particular reason to think he would object to effects on the bass signal, distortion or otherwise.
The way I have my distortion pedal set up for p&w it's adds a very subtle grit to the low end which works well for songs like David Potter's All Creatures of our God and King or Wounded Healer by The Followers.
I'm looking at a Pog2 right now after I get my new PedalTrain and Voodoo Labs power plus 2. What are the other 4 pedals you use that are the distortion, reverb and the other 2. I'm not familiar
with them?
Source Audio Multiwave Bass Distortion, Source Audio Dimension Reverb, and TC Electronic Flashback Delay. All three of those pedals are in a loop with the POG2.
I am the only bassist at my church so my pedals don't have to move.
Wow, you have a ton of gain on that Tone Hammer considering the AGS is on. Are you going for a really distorted sound?
It doesn't sound very distorted to me. I should probably play around with it more than I have, I use it as a di also. I also use a sansamp pbddi sometimes.
I only ask because when I had a TH, if the AGS was on and the gain was anywhere past 10, there was noticable distortion (which it should produce). But maybe because your master is so low it isn't as pronounced. just wondering

I use a TH every weekend I play, usually with the AGS on and the gain about 7:30 - 8:00ish and I get slight breakup when I play. Past 10 was more than I could use, and I've got an MXR Fuzz Deluxe on my board...

I will try adjusting it a little. I do not notice too much distortion now but it might sound better if I tweaked it. It can be a pain to adjust while playing though. I really don't know how I came to that setting in the first place.
Just curious... have you A/B'd the Zoom's DI+ sim with the real one ? I was quite impressed with that patch and I don't even use distortion at all on bass.
Here is the board for this morning. Going back to my amp less and cab less setup with IEMs. The Basswitch is the real deal. Preamp, Blender, and DI. Plus, it has A/B active passive inputs so I can keep both of my basses plugged in without changing volume or EQ. Giving it the first live full band test in 30 minutes. Should be fun.
Always cool seeing your board man. I can't really bring mine my our services... we play a lot of gospel type of music, boom chick. My tafm probably wouldn't go over to well.
As one of 3 bass players at our church, I know what the bass in the congregation sounds like. I also get a board recording of each practice we have, so I know what it sounds like there.
I used to bring a board, usually with compression, bass chorus, and other pedals (pitch shift, etc). But any and all effects just were lost in the room and in the mix.
So I just plug in. We use a programmable Sansamp, but the others use my preset and a GKMB115 for a monitor, plus Avioms for everyone. I use a Line 6 5 string Variax, and do change models a lot, including using the 8 and 12 string models. But that's just for me, as no one in the audience/congregation hears anything but basic low end bass. I use ear buds, and the Aviom is pretty compressed with more high end than is heard in the room. My use of compression sounds doubly compressed in my ears, so no compression for me. Any noise is loud in the Aviom and if I hear noise, so will everyone else.
Clean and no noise. Aside from that, my job is to play well and enhance what is being played and experienced by the others.

I get that. We are more rock centered. It is nice to step out on the edge tonally when the time is right.
