Got some questions for you guys who use delay and reverb during worship. What context are you using them in and how do you have them set?

I typically use a little reverb or chorus on slower songs that have a bit more of an ethereal feel. For instance, when we do Lord, I need you, I add some reverb. Or, His Mercy is More would get chorus. Truthfully, it probably isn't the same way twice and I kind of do what feels/sounds right at the time.

Interesting. I'm thinking about adding a Keeley Caverns to my board, but just haven't fully convinced myself that it'll fit. I have another pedal I can use to test it. Thanks for the input!
Just based on Keely's reputation, I suspect that would have a good variety of tone possibilities. I use the Aguilar Chorusaurus and MXR Reverb M300. I have heard good things from bassist using the Blue Sky too, but that's not a inexpensive option.
very much how i use it too, or to create pads during prayerful moments, or to create whale sounds/swells when we are down an electric player. I use a Mercury7 and an Empress Echosystem which is 100% overkill for bass, but i can create some really nice sounds. Want to add an Enzo to smooth it out further into a light pad.
Caverns is awesome, and if I were to downsize I would definitely consider it.
I use a line 6 hx effects for my delay, reverb and modulations. I'll isually run a spring or plate verb with a modulated tape delay. We typically don't have an electric guitarist so I will play up high and do pretty pentatonic things or more lead type bass parts on quiet parts of songs. Mostly to help fill in that missing guitar. I'll also hammer on root notes low and maybe tap up high or something

I think I may still pull the trigger, but for different reasons than what I think I am hearing from you guys. We have pads looped in every song so I don't need to create that feeling. We also have someone using a controller to get a lot of lead guitar styled sounds and swell type things that the guitar would otherwise be doing more of. I do typically play intro and outro leads on bass since we don't have a lead guitar atm. I like the idea of adding reverb and delay for those parts just to livin it up. I'll have to try it with the Zoom I have before I commit to the Keeley.

Depends on what you're looking for, but friends of ours who live there go to the Village Chapel. We visited once (but live in Michigan) and loved it. You can stream their services online too to get an idea of what they're like. The preacher is one of the best Bible teachers we've heard. And we've been around for a looooong time.

Nice. That's definitely in my neighborhood. The two I can most recommend would be Providence UMC in Mount Juliet, roughly 2 exits east on I40. Another one is Hermitage UMC in Hermitage. They have two campuses, the actual Hermitage UMC campus hosts traditional services and The Foundry which hosts the contemporary services. Providence is a bigger church, hosting 3 services each Sunday. Personally I love that church. Hermitage UMC's "The Foundry" is where I play more often but it is a smaller church.
Would be a bit of a drive, but would be within 30 minutes if taking I40 > 440 > I65-S
I STARTED WITH
The MS60B and a passive, Church provided, DI. Setup is actually very versatile. I found that the one and patch I used was a DI or Amp sim with compressor and a little eq. I think I used the ZNR noise reduction thing too maybe. And of course the tuner.
WHAT I LEARNED
Church sound is volunteer based. You get a little different starting point from Sunday to Sunday. For me anyway, getting into the MS60B's menu to tweak things back to right wasn't as intuitive or efficient as an actual DI pedal with knobs/buttons, so I got one. The DI I am using now has eq and a little blend-able drive knob on it. I also added a compressor that has clean boost. That's all I really need. Haven't found where an octave/synth/envelope/.... is really that useful to me in actual practice. Much easier for me to dial myself back to "my tone" at Sunday morning sound check by tweaking knobs, than clicking through a menu on a digital pedal...
I still held onto the MS60B for a little while, just had it on my board between the compressor and the DI. I was using the Bass tube screamer model for mild dirt, which was pretty good. In the end, I just found that the mild dirt I could get from my DI was fine and (to me anyway) a simple signal chain is a happy signal chain.
ULTIMATELY
I do feel like the MS60B is a great pedal, and if things change and a chorus/flange/reverb, etc. were to come into play, I'd grab the Zoom and put it right back between my compressor and DI and be all set. So, if you are in a boat where your room sound in Church is relatively stable from Sunday to Sunday (or you don't mind clicking through the menu screens on your pedal) and you need the kitchen sink, you could do a lot worse that a Zoom. They make good stuff!!

This is my latest build. Nano+ with Cioks DC7. This is just the "Tone" set up.....I can't live without an octave since I can't play 5's and 6"s anymore (carpel tunnel) so I tune down a whole step and use a hipshot to get to low "C" below "E" and use the octave for even lower stuff. The DC7 has a USB out so when the lights change I have one of those little LED lights over the Bassbone and it powers another light on the music stand and charges my phone! I have another nano+ on the way to add more stuff to the FX loop on the bassbone for crazy stuff. That will come later, I'll post that when I'm done.
