Its not super fast on E string, but other than that its great. No problems with it, unless thats a problem hahaha. but i heard the same about support.

Right. Silver face Ampeg amp in a box. It's not really SVT-ish, like the Sansamp VT Bass stuff or others. I have a VT Bass DI, and it's different. I can get a similar tone to the SSP out of the VTBass with the character around 1:00, but the SSP has a lot of power behind it. It's super loud. It's supposed to mimic the V4B. From what I've heard on Youtube from demos of an actual V4B amp, I'd say that's accurate.

So I swapped it up a bit after some thinking. Same basic idea, but I wanted my Eventide H9, which meant using a different power source and changed the layout. I got a Hyper Luminal in a trade the other day so I'm trying that out right now instead of the Cali76, swapped the Nimbus out for a Dr. Scientist Frazz Dazzler V2, and swapped Volume pedals for the Dunlop. The 3 button footswitch is connected to the H9. On the underside you can see the RNDI and a Cioks DC10. Plus a picture of it all connected in action this morning. Our rehearsal on Thursday was cancelled, so I kinda threw this at the sound guy today, but he was super excited and said that the tone he could get was awesome.
Signal chain is: Dunlop VP->Diamond Comp->Hyper Luminal->RDNI (clean chain)->Ibanez TS9DX->Frazz->H9->Noble
With the Volume pedal at the front I can swell again. The one downside with this setup is if I'm using both the clean and dirty chain I can't mute the clean to tune with my H9. I don't think it will be a big deal though because I have power passthrough on the Rockboard so connecting up the Wireless Shure pedal is super easy and that just goes at the front of the chain when I want to use wireless, which is pretty much always when I'm using both signal paths. Anyway, fun weekend of tinkering for me. I'm not 100% done I think, I want to swap the Frazz out for another overdrive flavor. I'm not sure what that will be yet. Then maybe I can leave it setup like this for a bit.

I am contemplating getting a passive DI pedal. Right now I am looking at the Radial JDI. Are there any other passive DI pedals you would suggest I consider as well?
Just can't go wrong with a Radial JDI...go for it!!!
I've be using a JDI for years. JDI is an "industry standard" DI. I left for a bit but came right back. Wouldn't use anything else.

Nice to see someone else has also discovered the low profile Cable Techniques XLR connectors. I had to solder them in place since you can't pass an XLR end through the slots on the Rockboard setups. They work fantastic and my board wouldn't function or look as clean without them. I use the MOD 1 patch bay to its fullest extent.
Haha, yeah, it helps the setup a lot. I originally got it when I was seeing if it was possible to run any XLR cables through the top side of the board without haven't to cut/solder. It is not, so I abandoned that idea.
But it works on the underside and lets me fit both the RNDI and a DC10 under the 3.1 which wouldn't be possible if I had to have space for normal XLR connectors.
Personally I don't love the JDI. I do regularly use a Acme Motown DI and absolutely love it. I often take it out over my Jule Monique as it is simple and sounds beautiful.
Thanks! Did you try feeding your OCSD into your JDI so you had the tone changing of the OCSD but use the JDI for the DI? Just curious. I am looking to reduce some potential noise that the FoH guys mentioned which I assume is from the OCSD and not have to worry about phantom power affecting the OCSD (for which I have an inline phantom power blocker).
I did. I don't remember why I'm not still doing that. I guess I've just gone super simple. I still have my OCSD so I may try that again and see. I do like having no knobs at all. Just plug and play.

The connections are fairly easy to solder, but if you haven't done that before it could look challenging. I bought the ends and the cable and did everything myself. It helps to have a good soldering station and all of the little tools to make it easier to do the job, but even without that you can do it with a cheap pencil type iron, solder, wire strippers, and a way to hold the ends when you are soldering. Not difficult, but there is some prep involved.
Yeah, I've soldered XLR cables before, I'm more just interested in being able to change things around pretty quickly and easily. Having to unsolder and resolder cables cramps my gas haha.

I'm not allowing my board to get any bigger at this point and the components that have the XLR connections aren't moving from their spots. It's been about a year long process to get it to this point and I think I'm finally about satisfied with the setup...but not necessarily with all of my pedals. I have to leave some room for GAS
