Worship Bass Pedalboards

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Here's a shot of mine at rehearsal last night. The blue and white one is an Earthquaker Devices Dispatch Master, and I cannot say enough good things about it; it's almost always on during the worship sets. I have a Joyo Ultimate OD coming in the mail today, and an MXR M87 compressor is in the works, too.

I'm using an iOS rig. IPad 4 into a Sonic Port, into a DI where one side goes to the house and the other into the stage side fill amp. I don't have a pedal yet, so I have to touch the screen. However, I do see a Blue Board in my future.

With Audiobus, I have the line 6 app giving me a low end sound, and have Jamup (with bass expansion) do the effects. This gives me a very tight low end with a platform for effects. Noise gate, compression, chorus, fat phaser with a touch of reverb/delay, and 2 amps and cabinets I can not afford to buy, much less carry them around. It amazing stuff, I have the sound of a truck bed full of gear for the price of a decent rack module.

In worship, I find that I use 4 patches, a clean sound, a mild chorus, a heavier chorus with less high frequencies, and a brighter patch for more presence. All the changes are done to Jamup, while leaving the Line 6 app alone. The slower the song, the fatter the sound, generally.

After having the iOS rig, I will not go back to a rack of stuff again. In my opinion, it's that good.

I've replaced the XDS Wireless with a line6 relay G50. I've been using this everywhere I play, both church and a classic rock cover band. I've been thinking about building a much simpler effects board for church that would include a Radial DI (haven't settled on the model yet), and maybe a bass chorus and an Echo Park delay (I really like the swell on the EP). I've been hearing a lot of good stuff about the Zoom B3..I may look into one of those as it would be nice to only worry about one pedal and one power supply.

SA Expression Pedal arriving TODAY!

Presets(TC RH450) kinda saved me at Wednesday night service! My Pedalboard never fired up last night for some reason and I did the mad scramble plugging and unplugging to see if I needed to bypass something to keep, actually start , going and I finally had to plug direct into the RH450 and didn't like what I had dialed to work with the pedalboard and clicked 1 and that was ok and then clicked 2 and wham. Let's go! No twiddling, play on.

Funny thing after church. Drag my pedalboard out, replug everything like it was and everything works fine! Demons. messin' wit me.

Rehearsal last night went without a hitch. Very happy with my tone right now.

Oh I've had that happen. I had an ab pedal pop really loud when I went to switch twice in one service. Didn't touch it again that day and changed plans as to which bass I intended to use for the rest of service. Brought my board home and could not get it to do it again. Took it out of the chain. Convinced myself it was a fluke. Next time I put it back in the thing did it again. Thing about drove me crazy trying to figure out why. Still not sure.

Third week off in a row. We haven't had our services but its a good thing. They are building us a larger, better stage! Hopefully I won't almost take out the drum cage with my headstock anymore. Next week we break it in.
