The JDI while amazing, seems to really reduce the signal to the board. It’s been that way forever. And I sold it. The Pro is a decent DI and really, I’m not sure if I’ll do it as the LA-1A works fine as a “DI” as is without the Radial. The thing is the Boost on the LA-1A doesn’t work when using the balanced out. The Boost seems to bring my G&L bass up to the level of my Roscoe’s, and gives it a nice sound. Not sure if I’ll gig that bass much at all, but I like the option. Using the Pro or any DI gives me that option.The Pro would let me stay small - like a Nano+ which I like.
I still sometimes think about a REDDI, but it’s so big and I have tubes already.

I use the Nano+ because it fits my stuff better - downsized from a bunch of analog pedals on the Novo 24 board (hard case, too!) to the Nano+ with just a HX Stomp and a Morningstar MC6. I have been dabbling with a DOD expression pedal but I think I may not need it. Going from over 50 lbs of pedalboard to less than 10 is WONDERFUL! I also like the tweakability of the Stomp and it does everything I need with good sound quality. I have a JDI that may eventually find its way onto the board.

Yeah, I like small and light. I thought about an HX as lots of people like them, and I don’t use effects a lot (filter for one song, chorus for one song, etc) so a multi makes sense. But it is pretty expensive. And I don’t care for menus so I don’t know if we’d get along. It would fit on a Nano+ with my LA-1A and Rolls though. That would be a pretty sweet little board.

TU-2 --> Rolls PM50S (IEM'S) --> Effectrode LA-1A Tube Compressor (they didn't have a pic) to the Radial Pro DI. Probably what I'll end up with. Waiting to buy my old Nano+ back from Dave. I may put a Cioks DC-7 under it to power it all. Right now I have to use the adapter for the Effectrode (12 volt) and for the tuner and Rolls (OneSpot) so it's only 2 things to plug in. The Cioks DC-7, adapter cable and mounting bracket are about $250. IDK, I suppose it's worth it to just have one thing to plug in and get consisten, clean power.

I doubt much will happen any time soon as gigging is months away.

You might consider selling your Radial Pro DI and purchasing a Rupert Neve RNDI. They are beautiful DIs. Heck, you could just use the RNDI by itself to FOH, and skip the pedalboard. Alot of people do. It's that good.

And I could see you doing that :)

OK, your tuner too.

The RNDI would get your LA-1A boost working and give you better tone.

Gotta have my Rolls for IEM’s. I have thought about a RNDI. Someone on TB has one and a Radial 48 power for it so I don’t need phantom power. It’s was tempting, but then I need a bigger board, and probably a power supply and.....

I believe it could. I’m. It as sure about the cover band. I use the same gear for both. I always say I’m “self sufficient” so having my own 48 volt supply would be a “me” thing.

By this time I’d have a CIOKS DC-7 with an adapter to power my Comp (12volt) and the Radial pedal to power the RNDI and what the heck, the HX Stomp. That’s be a hell of a board.

Mackie has their M48 power supply that I've been considering picking up so I could run my pedalboard to a Quilter BB800 to my cabs. Mackie gear is usually pretty rugged, and the M48 looks rugged and reviews are good.

I was able to sell off pedals (half of what I had) and pay for the HX, the MC6, the pedalboard and take my wife out to dinner several times. It worked out well for me financially so I don't see it as THAT expensive!

The Stomp is really easy to use with the downloadable presets. I just assign the switch on the MC6 to the preset I want to use and seldom need to do much tweaking.

I have a Behringer XENYX 1204USB mixer with phantom power. I can run a line from my THX computer speakers into the board and play MP3s on the computer to practice to, and either plug my bass into the mixer direct, or through the pedalboard into the mixer. Monitor through Sony studio headphones.

Broughton claims the Studio One captures the character of the Neve 1073 console preamp. Is the Studio One similar to the RNDI as far as character?

The Mackie M48 can be powered by 9v, whereas the Radial requires 15v :(

Character, yes for sure. Absolute best tone I’ve heard is LA-1A>RNDI...but we’re splitting hairs between the two.

The S1 has other options I desire (ie filters/eq)...all in one pedal. It’s a no brainer to go with S1. Just sayin the LA-1A>RNDI is killer tone though...
