I received mine last Friday and love it! Many times I will receive a new item and it will take some time to either learn or to wear on me until I decide to either keep it or move it on. This one was pretty much instant. I gotta give credit to @scubaduba because of his review. I started with his settings and barely tweaked from there just a bit and it was perfect.

I'll have to check those out. I saw a pic of it with a new tube DI on that thread as well. Might be an updated version of a good starting point.

The Empress Bass Compressor is one of my favorites. Glad the settings worked for you. :)

Have fun playing around though. There's a lot more goodness to be had with other settings too.

It's been a while since I've checked into this thread, but here's the latest that I'll be using for Palm Sunday and Easter...

The Q Strip is new. Anxious to try it. It's replacing a Boss PQ-3B and a Radial DI. It checked a lot of boxes - compact, clean and sculptable EQ, HPF and LPF.

Next goals are a new comp and maybe an octave pedal.

Please report back on these. I'm looking at the Big Splits to replace my Big Singles, but I don't want to lose the single coil Jazz burp.

I doubt a LPF would do anything for hum. Super high hiss, maybe. I have used the Broughton HPF/LPF for some time, and my jazz pickups are still noisy.

I tried so many overdrives... I almost found what I was hearing in my head with the Southhampton 5th Gear...

Gave up for quite a while... until..

On herein kept seeing the Damnation Audio MBD-2... so I checked it out...

I ABSOLUTELY HATED EVERYTHING I HEARD.... I couldn't understand how or why so many would or could like anything that came out of the pedal...

So I reached out to a few on here...

What I wanted was my bass, just dirtier and gritty... nothing more or less..
I was assured by everyone that it would handle it and then some..

THEY WEREN'T WRONG!!
I absolutely love this pedal, it's going nowhere.. it's so full, thick and juicy. Plus does any amount of dirt you could want.

Even with the DEPTH knob all the way down, it's still crazy thick...
Give it a whirl, you won't regret it

Where did you, and @SteveC find your empress?
Every time I check their site, they're out of stock
