I had a Fender American Pro P5 for a short time that was really nice. I kind of wish I still had it.

Here's how it looks after a service. I leave the knobs where they are just in case I really liked the sound I got. The EG knob can change the overall sound drastically compared to the filter. I am no expert by any means but I downloaded some presets from a YouTube channel (emilio rivera) that I really liked and then used the software program to pick apart how to achieved the sounds manually. Since I'm not Stevie wonder I just settle on nice thick bass with some slow lfo. *chefs kiss.Nice setup. Are you using the presets on the Sub Phatty? Can you post your panel? I’m curious about other settings.
This is where I am at the moment:

WELL.... Truth be told I'm not a huge fan of Ps. If Dingwall would accommodate me with a Reverse PJ, I'd be all in. But, with their current & ever increasing backlog they won't.![]()
Just installed a P-tone in the neck of my SJ5. Sounds great! I'll get to hear it at higher volumes at rehearsal later today.
Interchangeable, for the most part. I didn’t notice much difference through the in ears and in the house the short time I went out during sound check.
Of course, as you know, I don’t use the lower knobs on the Grizzly.
Very nice! Love the streamlined board.View attachment 5432077
The ZeroFive Audio Lowrider was amazing in service today! Used it on the deep 2 setting set at 9 o’clock. It added a great low end punch. Now it’s time to roll that tube in the Oracle!
Thanks! You only need so much, right?Very nice! Love the streamlined board.

This is why a P bass is the classic Swiss Army knife.I was on bass duty today and thought I would do a little experiment…
Ran a Tonehammer without the AGS engaged and with virtually flat eq and no effects. On the main FOH desk I set HPF @ 40hz and LPF @5khz and then let the sound engineer do the rest. Fender Precision with bog standard Fender 7250’s and boom. Sounded great with drums electric guitar and 2 vocalists, no keys today to muddy the mix thank goodness
Apart from being a pedal geek it did make me wonder why I don’t just do that every week!
I have a Subway DI incoming so am going to A/B that with the Tonehammer through the system midweek
Yeah! I should mention I played my Fodera Emperor standard with new TI Jazz Flats (with Sean Hurley’s Vaseline treatment applied) through it. Sounded so good. The killer setlist this morning helped, too.yeahhh… I bet that rig sounds good!
Just curious did you do that to mitigate the EQ saturation/mid boost with the AGS on the Tone Hammer?I was on bass duty today and thought I would do a little experiment…

With my overthinking brain, yes often times less is moreThanks! You only need so much, right?

Finding the right 5 string P bass is a lot harder than 4 string Ps. I can usually play any 4 string P bass. I’m getting closer though…

Yes exactly that, and just to hear what a virtually straight signal processed by the desk was like.
When mixed into FOH correctly it absolutely lovely.
I'd be curious to hear what you think about the Sunway DI. I've liked the Mesa gear I've messed around with.
I will post some thoughts…
They are a pretty stunning piece of kit, I bet I would struggle to pick out any significant differences in a live mix between it and other DI’s though.

I didn’t think you could say that on talkbass
that super P does look cool !

Searching, it seems that the Dingwall Super P is custom order, only? Very few appear in the wild or sold listings. The Dingwall website has no pricing info..... I am ready to be enlightened....Yes you do! Dingwalls are hands down the best instruments I've ever played & I've been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to play a whole lot of high end basses (some 2-3x the price of the Canadian made Dingwalls) over the years.
