I used the Cog 66 and R-1 again on Sunday. They didn't disappoint. But, they are big pedals. I'm on a 'try new stuff live' kick, so I may switch up my board a bit over the next few services to see what works.

I haven't tried that but will. Thanks for the recommendation. I always thought compressor goes before everything.

That's the norm. But I have mine after my mildest overdrive to keep it touch sensitive.
What would be the cherry on top is first dibs and 10% off for thread members when they inevitably flip a pedal.
Yeah, my Pirate Ship bill for 2024 was impressive, my first year trying pedals. Lots of flipping, for sure.
Pedals that have hung around and seem to be more or less keepers for my 18" board: Tone Hammer DI, DCX Bass, Bass Microsynth, HX One. If I swap out the Bass Microsynth, I can substitute in a drive/fuzz and octaver, currently Calamity/Subsonic. May go Kilt/Octamizer.
Popular pedals I wanted to like but didn't click with: Sushibox Finally, Doom 2, CAPO, HX Stomp.
Pedals I liked but don't have the room: Dispatch Master, Jive, Gladio SC, Punchline, Bassrig Black Panel, Damnation MBD2, Blue Collander Tremond.
Most frustrating pedal search: Chorus, all of them. Ended up liking the Line 6 Chorus in the HX the best.
Most unexpected positive discovery: Fuzz pedals. I like creamy smooth and I like crunchy explosive. Gravitated to fuzz over tube screamers and Rats.
Counter culture move: Dropped the compressor, too expensive, too much space, too subtle, redundant to FOH. Liked the Empress the best, especially the tone shaping thingy.
Out Of The Box: Rotosound Swing Bass steel strings. Makes all pedals sound better.
I usually priced things well in order to move them along, just part of the hobby cost, and would be happy to move stuff to other worship board thread members at good prices. Started dual listing on TB and Reverb and impressed with how fast stuff moves on Reverb when priced well.
I'm now retired and have adopted worship bass as one of my key "purposes" serving almost every week at several churches. I've been studying worship videos, player boards, took the wife to go experience Bethel.
A special shout-out to @MikoFX and @NickyBass for helping me and loaning pedals throughout the year. Awesome! Both of these guys have great taste and outstanding pedal knowledge. They were routinely bringing up pedals and brands I never heard of.

I think I'm about to go down the fuzz rabbit hole as well. On a recent video on JHS channel Josh was showing how to get edge of breakup with a fuzz vs a drive pedal and It sounded better than the drive to me but yet to be seen how it would translate on bass.

Check it out at 13:00 into the video. Edge of breakup with a fuzz face pedal using their little black box pedal. It's edge of breakup but in a chunkier sound than a drive pedal would be.
I plan to do something similar....with drive pedal though... I will put an attenuator in front the Nobels ODR overdrive. With attenuator activated, the sound will be semi-clean (on the edge of breakup), with the attenuator deactivated, the sound will be overdriven...
Spreading the GAS haha. It's a lot of fun to experiment with new and different pedals. There are so many great ones to try. The cycle is: go bigger. Then go smaller. Then go digital. Then go digital plus a few analog. Then go all analog. Then go bigger with all analog. Then smaller. Then...
It's a fun journey though.
I'm starting to really get into fuzz too.
Pedals that have hung around: Shure wireless and Noble pre. I don't see these being replaced anytime soon. Everything else is temporary.
Popular pedals I wanted to like but didn't click with: Doom 2. Nice pedal, but I didn't see why it was so hyped. DCX Bass. Another nice pedal, but I go through phases with it.
Pedals I liked but don't have the room: Horrothia Type One chorus, Gladio, RevivalDrive Compact
Most frustrating pedal search: I would say overdrive. Partly because there are so many options to try and partly for the low end response on a lot of them.
Most unexpected positive discovery: The Moog Sub Phatty. 100%. I get so much use out of it and it sounds incredible.
Counter culture move: R1 over the BMS. No comp (at the moment). Never liked the Rat circuit.
Out Of The Box: Pick playing. I was never "anti" pick. I just never really played a genre that needed it. I just let the music dictate the technique and I find pick playing is a great fit for a lot of worship music.

I've sold a lot of my 'extra' pedals, but I do have some that I'm hanging onto. If anyone is interested, I would part with my Tone Hammer, DCX Bass, BMS (which is currently out on loan) and maybe my Gladio. I don't know if I'd use them in the future, but if anyone is interested, I'd love to help out my fellow worship bassists.
Wow, the TH+Gladio+BMS would make a great worship board for anyone! Add the DCX for lovely console cleanish EQ /saturation and it's even better.
Thanks for the insight into your pedalboard journey! Just curious - why did you like the HX One but not the Stomp? Why did the Doom 2 not work for you?
I didn't care for the amps, cabs, comps, and drives in the stomp. I really like the chorus, octaver, flanger, delay, tuner, stuff. So, the HX One provided what I like and left out the amps/cabs that I did not use. Plus the HX One is more pedal board friendly, easy to power, cheaper. It's only one effect block at a time, but that works OK for me.
The Doom was a nice fuzz device, but very pricey for what I needed. I'm sure the Doom can be expertly sculpted for synth use cases, but that is beyond my needs. In the end it was a shoot out between the Doom, Broughton Calamity, Aguilar Fuzzistor, and JHS Kilt. I hung onto the Calamity. But the Kilt may be returning for another go.
I can hear the gate working. I am assuming the gate is on the end of the signal chain of the pedal? I have always wondered with fuzzes if it is actually better to gate on the way in to remove finger noise etc.
So, you're saying you want a higher threshold gate than what is internal to the pedal? I'd still put it after the pedal.
