Worship Bass Pedalboards

The second service with the Stomp went well. I didn't have any complaints with the compressor, but I may leave it off. I also decided that I spent enough time trying the amp/cab sims and I'm going to set that aside for a while. I don't HAVE to use all the features on the Stomp. There are more than enough drives, fuzzes, octaves, choruses, etc to make the purchase (trade) worth it. The way I see it, I had a nice analog compressor and a bigger board. But, I decided to leave the comp off. So, I should approach the Stomp the same way. Only using stuff that I need. I've owned a few compressor pedals, but none of them were purchased because I *needed* one.
I'm also not as familiar with them as other pedals. So, until I have a more thorough knowledge of compression, or unless a need arises, I'm going to skip using a compressor for a while.

I was thinking about getting an iPad to use at home with Multi Tacks and Planning Center. I could send the audio to my Bluetooth mixer and learn the parts at home. But, it could also double as a mixer for the services. Do you find that you get good use out of it?

Yep. I use 2 presets. They are almost identical. I use 1/4 of the Stomps potential...and that's ok. If I want/need more I have it. If I don't I'm happy with a small, all-in-one unit. My GLXD wireless and my HXS are on a Mono board with a CIOKS DC7 underneath.

If your church has a multitracks account tied to PCO, then you load your setlist from PCO into the Multitracks Playback app... that's if you are setup with the permissions by whoever admins the church multitracks acct. Some churches will use playback interface through the FOH mixer... It can be useful if you want to mix in instruments from the tracks in your personal mix if someone is a distraction. It depends on how your church runs tracks.

As for my iPad on stage, I'm just using it for my personal mix. The iPhone is just too small for my old eyes, and clumsy fingers. I have 4 different personal mix apps for all the churches I play at... this week was WING-Q app.

Getting the basic Ian Martin Allison presets was a huge jumpstart in understanding more of the stomps features and settings like its compression blocks. Highly recommend.

I use IMA presets for my 2 main presets. Foundation and Detune. Couldn't be easier. I even quit using my tube DI after my HXS. In a mix at a venue no one notices the 5% the tube DI ads. It's a Khan. It's in the classifieds.

At the moment, my church doesn't pay for the extra licenses to get the practice tracks sent to everyone. Just the chord charts. I went to MultiTracks and subscribed to the rehearsal bundle Solo Practice Bundle. I think it's around 60.00 a year? Whatever songs show up on the setlist I can just go in and load the song and practice to it. I don't get the exact arrangement the church uses (unless they don't modify it) but it's still really nice for learning the songs. And, I can pull up any song in MultiTracks, not just the ones the church has selected for the weekend. It's been nice to learn a few songs that we never do during service. You can load the chart-builder app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac (not sure what they offer for PC). Was able to bluetooth the songs to my DG Element and play along. Really nice way to practice new songs.

I have a MultiTracks account through the church. I just use it for playing/transcribing the songs. Right now, I use a laptop with my mixer. It’s my work computer, and it would be nice to have something dedicated to my practice room. I was considering using an iPad so that I could use it for other things. I agree that the mixer is too small on my phone. So, the iPad could double as my mixer. Two birds, et cetra.
I wouldn’t connect to MultiTracks while at the church. I would just use our mixer app to get levels for the in ears.
I’d have a bigger surface while in the sanctuary, but a smaller one at home.
Thanks for the feedback. I’m on the fence and everything helps to decide.

I got the Stomp used and it had the IMA presets installed. I started with those and it helped a lot to get started.
I’m starting to get a handle on it. I’m moving a lot quicker on it, but there’s a lot to go through.

I got an e-mail newsletter from Origin Effects a few weeks ago that said they had several new products being released in 2025 including something in the bass category. I can't find that e-mail anymore. Anyone else get it? I'm going to guess a B-15 Bassrig. I'd like to see a DCX with XLR - something like the Noble or Jad Freer CAPO.

This is my board so far. I am particularly pleased with the Lusithand, the MBD, and the ZIO. The Bass Clone does a fine job (I just make my OC5 sound more organ-like with it, and occasionally thicken my tone when playing big 1/2 and whole note progressions). A Lightning Boy Audio 23FE+ is on the way. A Fuzz, a verb, and flat patch cables will round this board out. I might add a synth instead of the verb. Dunno yet. May replace the chorus with a pedal that does verb and chorus. But this is very functional and sounds really tight so far!!!!
