My wife and I played at a different church than our home church this past Sunday. Here’s a short clip from the service. I was playing my Mike Lull M5V, using my Cali76 Bass Compressor and 3 Leaf Octabvre Mk.3, with my Khan VTDI sending the signal to FOH. My wife was on drums.
Thank you!Sounds great! You have a shot of your board setup? Love to see how that looks!!
That’s the Metro 20. I use an IEC splitter on the end of my main power cord. One plug from the splitter goes into the DC7 and the other goes to the Khan.Which metro board is that? I use a Khan as well and just can't seem to get it to fit right on a board. Curious how you run power to it. I see the DC7 underneath - which I also use.
I grabbed a JHS Colourbox off the classifieds last week and my first impressions are quite good. I can get the edge of breakup thing if I want it and the EQ is very very handy and good sounding. The transformers give it some give but not pillowy, I think. I think the Colourbox may excel at dialing in a good IEM EQ contour. I have the expensive Audio 64 molded in-ears and I'm not impressed with their EQ contour. The Colourbox could be the ticket. I'll try it in a couple of weeks.
Oh man…now I want a Noble! I must stop watching you and @NickyBass GAS me up!I am still liking it quite a bit. I'm doing a lot of A/B'ing with the Tone Hammer. One thing about the TH with AGS that I've been confused about is the changed EQ set points or sound of the EQ. The bass and treble controls in particular. Still getting oriented to the Colourbox but so far so good. It seems like the TH/AGS gives that saturated Bethel slightly aggressive tone which I've grown to appreciate. The Colourbox gives me a more refined professionally recorded bass tone. I like both. So, to continue the journey I finally ordered a Noble to experience that world. 48 weeks and counting. You may see some stuff listed as a funds raiser.
Famous last wordsI suspect further improvements at this point are pretty minimal.
Haha. Oh man. I thought I was being good lately.Oh man…now I want a Noble! I must stop watching you and @NickyBass GAS me up!![]()
That’s a pretty good combination.I just saw John Mayer in Nashville. Mr. Sean Hurley played bass. His tone was driven by his master playing style, P bass, and Noble.
Minimal changes vs improvements..... Changes will continue, at a much slower pace, but substantial tone improvements likely to be minimal. At this point, pedal changes are mostly for personal entertainment and discovery. My pedal journey started early 2024 and I was pretty clueless at that time. Leaned a lot from this group and YouTube influencers since that time!Famous last words![]()
Clever! Thank you.I think the Colourbox would be an awesome front of chain EQ and clean signal send if you ever needed that.
Mr Vaughn gets incredible core tone with his P-Bass + Origin DCX Bass + Noble combo. Also It looks like Bryce Vaughn is now running a TH to a Colourbox v2 into a Noble…so I guess he wins![]()
Used the Xotic BB preamp into the THDI last week. I really liked it. Thank you for the tip. I started out liking the Rat devices (Tanner), then swapped into crunchy fuzz (Funk), and now making the full circle into the tubescreamer thing with this BB. Each has their benefits. Still want to try a BBJ and Jellyfish.Tonehammer seems to be a constant for me, the Microsynth comes and goes, the BB preamp is new to me and a very lively little box!
Same here. I started playing again summer of 2024 after a 14 year break (kids, work, life, etc.). I have learned so much from you guys. I really enjoy experimenting with the various tones and sounds. Not sure I will ever stop swapping and experimenting. I’ve settled the issue in my heart. Having a blast every step of the way. Keep posting guys.Minimal changes vs improvements.....
