Here is my simple set up for now, I got a good deal on the finally v1 on here and tried for the first time last Sunday. This set up sounded really wonderful to my ears! I was using the Shiftline Olympic before that but love this small footprint and simplicity. Will keep the SLO around for sure because I LOVE that preamp, but this suits me well right now.

Wish I understood the quad cortex universe some more. This looks pretty cool.

If you guys haven’t seen Rick Beato’s interview and tour with the founder of Darkglass and now Neural dsp it’s a really interesting watch. The machine they built to capture amps is genius.



Also after watching I downloaded the Cortex Cloud app and started going through all the captures. Any bass amp and pedal I could think of is on there.

Quite sure He would get an endorsement, and possibly a signature series pedal.

If Indiana Jones taught me anything, Jesus definitely didn't use a Noble, He wasn't a king, probably would use an EHX Battalion or MXR Bass Preamp, maybe a Tech 21 VT Bass. Something common folk could afford.

After downloading some great captures for my Nano Cortex (Aguilar AG, 751, TH, Walter Woods, Capo, Sansamp, Ampeg SVT, Flip top...). I've been using those and the captures I made of my Tone Hammer lately. The wide range of tones and patches from a digital rig really comes in handy when I need to add some funky distortion/fuzz and/or need to do last-minute key changes where I've worked out parts incorporating open strings.

On a few occasions the digital capo functionality in the NC saved my tail when we switched from a male to female vocalist and the key signature of the song changed drastically. We did a song last weekend where I was already in drop-D and then due to a vocalist changed before run through, I needed to pitch shift the whole bass down to drop B, and it sounded surprisingly good.

I have dialed in the Tone Hammer patch or a Capo (not the device you clamp on the neck) preamp capture in pretty well on the NC and have A/B'd it a lot with my standard Cali76 + Tone Hammer rig, and it's very close.....Without a direct comparison to my analog rig, it sounds really great.

That said, my analog board with the Cali76 + Tone Hammer is still the reigning champion.

Last in the chain for me. I'm taking the DI out from the TH.

Last in signal path. TH DI to sound board and TH line out to bass amp. The bass amp on stage helps in our situation with not-great FOH speakers.

Build quality is nice however it doesn't sit flat on my desk. 1 corner rocks so that's annoys me a bit. Sound wise I think its pretty dang awesome. My first synth so nothing to compare but I can tell I have many hours of noise making and know twiddling ahead of me lol

By the way -- on the new JHS Morning Glory Clean, it was nice and pleasing drive tones, liked the top jacks. But it still did not replace the Tone Hammer DI w/AGS.

Ok friends, need your help. I want three gain stages on my worship pedalboard.

• Stage 1 - Tone Hammer V1 with AGS engaged (always on)
• Stage 2 - TBD - see below - Desire an overdrive/distortion for transitions into chorus or bridge
• Stage 3 - RCO Bluebeard Fuzz (clone of the Sanford & Sonny Bluebeard Fuzz) Love this pedal! Will use with MXR Bass Synth for EHS Bass MicroSynth crush!

I need a recommendation for the Stage 2 Overdrive/Distortion.

I have owned and sold the JHS Kilt V2, Backburner Big Booty Judy, SoloDallas Bass-X, Stone Deaf Rise & Shine, and JHS Ross Distortion pedals. All were too much. Very in your face, not subtle at all. I also had the Agular DB 316.

I am considering and watching videos for:

• JHS Morning Glory Clean - new kid on the block. Love the blend and sound so far.
• Way Huge Pork & Pickle - cool but don't need the fuzz side.
• Creation Audio Labs Grizzly Bass - local Nashville firm, love the sound.
• JPTR FX DELUXE Jive - tape saturation, love this sound too.
• Kaslader Jellyfish - best so far but expensive.

My signal chain will be RCO Bluebeard Fuzz > OD/Distortion > Tone Hammer

Any suggestions?
