yeah i really want to get me a 5 string for worship!

it would really help add some depth to some other more driving and somber songs.

I had a fiver for a while. It worked great in many situations (especially in tuned down songs), but I just couldn't get used to it. I guess I'm more of a four-string guy, but I still have GAS for fivers all the time:hyper: .

I have a suggestion IF you are serious - a 55-02 is one of the best 5ers out there (IMHO and the opinions of several others)...the B is very tight and rings very true!

since we play alot in Eb etc I get alot of use out of the B - also...I like the ability to move up and down the octaves at "my whim"....creates a little variety in the songs....

Hey guys...

I am having SO much fun on the worship team at church... I love playing my Epi Viola at church... it sounds so great (IMHO...). My pastor plays a mean guitar, and he is really raising the bar, musically speaking. I am relatively new to the contemporary type service, but I really am getting a lot out of it...

oh, and I am now in my first "Band"...

Put a CL ad up, and found a couple guys my age and with similiar musical tastes who want to get together and do a mix of Christian rock/contemporary & classic rock... Just wanna enjoyt the music and play stuff I could bring my kids (or my parents) to the concert... some of the first songs on my list are a couple Apologetix tunes... (My kids love "Story of a Squirrel" and "None Too Ladylike"... so do I).

Anyone know a good place to get bass lines for christian rock & contemporary? Especially Newsboys (on a real NB kick lately...). I know they have tabs online... ANyplace or books with basslines notated, a la "the Bass WHite Pages", etc?

I must add inhale exhale and haste the day to the list of great christian metal out there.

I play my fbass BN4 through a yorkville 100B. Right now I am working on my voice and I plan on starting to lead sometime in the next year (on acoustic and maybe some electric). My favorite songs are my chains are gone, from the inside out, fire fall down, shout unto God, Our God is an awesome God (only the chorus, the verses suck) and anything by michael gungor.

I might add, within the week I am getting a tattoo that says "live worship", only in Greek.

Count me in plz!
I've been rehearsing for the last month and a half with the worship group from the church that i go to.I'm really pumped up about this however this is really new stuff for me and it's a little hard for me.I've been playing rock/metal since 1989 and i'm having a little bit of a hard time with some of the stuff that they play(Gospel/Latin).I hope i can get with the program by December so i can play by the Holidays.

So.........tips,words of advise/encouragement are always welcome and appreciated.

Now I am glad there is a worship bassist's forum!


I'm fairly new to the worship band thing and I'm due to sign up with my university's Christian Union band in 2 weeks time. I'm looking forward to it in a lot of ways- the chance to talk with other musicians and play with a true band among other reasons.

I took the chance to buy a new bass for this reason, a vintage Shergold Marathon '76 model. Here is a pic...

These basses are excellent gigging basses,and the previous owner of this Shergold used it for gigs a lot. Their tone is impressive and solid.


If you want some good solid music, check out the Christian rock group Y Friday. They're very popular in Newcastle where I am and in the UK but aren't well known anywhere else I don't think.
