Worst band you've ever seen?

In the late 70's - early 80's this guy had a small cult following in the NYC Punk scene.
I'd bring friends (non-punks) along to his gigs just for laughs and to watch the expressions on their faces. It was so bad it was entertaining. A friend actually was his guitarist for a while.

I took my son to see one of his favorite bands at the time when he was 12. It was his first concert. The opening band was called The Pink Spiders. I tried to keep an open mind but honestly they sucked! Singer thought it was cool to drop the F bomb in between every song, like it was supposed to make him more edgy or something!
The worst bands I've ever seen would be one of those pathetic boy bands, teen pop artists, and emo bands.
what those bands have in common is that they all suck. those bands are a sick joke. total embarrassment to the music industry. my 8th grade class likes nsync and britney spears. I thought they suck. luckily I wasn't the only one in my class who hated nsync and britney spears. some of my friends hated them too. as for emo, I personally describe their music as wussy alternative rock. those bands are all alike. nothing but a bunch of cry babies who writes songs about how life is hard for them then it is for everyone else. or worse...they write songs about breaking up with their girlfriends and not taking it like a man. that's even worse. this is seriously neutered music. and I think I speak for everyone that we need music that really rocks like hard rock and heavy metal. not that wimpy music that they on the radio.
As for local bands, there are 2 terrible local bands I've seen that I consider to be the worst local bands I've ever seen. one terrible local band I've seen would be this one band I once saw on public access called cheer accident. and this band I thought was a joke. they first show this guy playing an acoustic guitar and making weird faces while playing 2 chords. and then they show this guy with a garbage can with a flippable lid and just keep hitting that lid to make it spin around. seriously I think these guys were on drugs. the other terrible local band I've seen would be this one local band who happens to be an emo band. I don't recall what they're called, but that show was the worst show I've done and that emo band really ruined my night. those are by far the worst bands I've ever seen.

High school talent show, some rock band who I do not recall their name. I haven't seen too many awful bands, but i don't frequent bars with live music and don't go (read as can't afford to go) to concerts. Of the live band performance I've heard, company family day outing, wedding bands, Disney World stage band, free outdoor concert band, touring praise & worship band, coffee house acoustic acts, they were all good and professional.
Yes -- On the Zappa Plays Zappa Dvd he's even enjoyable (playing the old stuff, of course). But rest assured, the next night with his own band he was back to spewing forth dreck.
Worst thing I played to see was Motley Crue in the 90's. Sound was so bad you couldn't hear a thing and Tommy Lee's solo was simply silly.
In the 80's went to see the Police in their heyday. Opening act was the Go-Go's. unbelievably bad. I felt like I had done something wrong by being there.
Saw Dokken a couple of years ago when they opened for the Scorps. Don's voice was shot, he couldn't hit anything. The Scorpions on the other hand were amazing.
Whichever tour Primus opened for Rush, they were just awful, mixed like **** and just sloppy. Rush, as always, killed it.
A couple of other good bands were Tonic and also REM on their Life's Rich Pageant tour. I wasn't a huge fan, but they played for something like 4 hours. Great show.
As far as local bands we saw a group last year at one of the bars on our regular rotation. At 11pm the only people in the bar when we walked in were the band's girlfriends/wives. That should have been our first clue. The bass player looked exactly like Wilfred Brimley (which I thought was kinda cool). Well, the guitar player is handling the vocals until they get to Blue Suede Shoes and then Wilfred gets to take the reigns. But he's so excited he jumps the gun as the guitarist is introducing him. So it's like: "And now we'd like to turn things over t..YOU AIN'T NOTHIN' BUT A HOUND DOG!!" The rest of the band has to struggle to jump in and it was a train wreck...and hilarious. They also played Sweet Home Alabama without the signature guitar riff..just chords. When they finished I looked at our drummer and he said "I can't even clap for that one."
We hung out for a while and then left. The bartender kinda had a "Help Me" look on her face. I felt bad for them, if they had been young kids I would've told them to stick with it and keep practicing. But, these guys all had 20 years on us.
And, of course, we've had some real bombs too...

I can't say I've seen them live, but I've had this weird experience when I first got turned onto the Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza. I remember buying the CD (cheap, and I usually gauge a band by their first album), popping it in, and going "this has to be some kind of joke". Ironically I bought their 2nd album just to see how clueless I was.
mike gordon's solo band was absolutely terrible when i saw them at the gathering of the vibes a few years ago.

82(?) saw the who @ pontiac silver dome. eddie money opened, very good the clash second, they SUCKED!!! the who rocked it out!!
Playing a show at a venue, Bad Alice in Chains cover band opener, Empty room, Nuff said.
I saw the 82 Who tour in Philadelpia......Epic Show. Hooters....Santana.....Clash.....WHO.....Clash were booed off stage although they played OK.
Worst Band had to be Virginia Wolf back in 1985 or so...Opened for the firm. Jason Bonham and all. They were horrendous and had the worst sounding bass I have ever heard...no tone. Just bass.

About 10 years ago I saw The Four Seasons at The Wolf Den at the casino in Uncasville, CT. I always enjoyed their music, but Frankie Valli's voice was shot. Band was good, as expected, but he couldn't hit a note. After waiting years to see them live, I walked out after 15 minutes.
Not bad per se, but most disappointing to me was Dan Fogelberg, due to poor sound. Guess a basketball arena will do that.
Oh yeah, David Lee Murphy at Rodeo Austin a few years ago. Music okay, attitude not so much.

Sacramento(?!?) native band Cake. Jack-wagons actually got on the crowd for singing the songs during their "performance". I had read elsewhere that they threatened to leave some venues and in fact DID leave on occasion. How do you afford that rock and roll live style indeed. . .
About 7 years ago I went to a Crue concert that was horrid. V. Neil sounded like crap. The mics sounded like they were mixed through a potato. They were SO much better in the 80's. I apologized for dragging my brother to his first Motley concert.
