Worst band you've ever seen?

Not the worst band, but the worst bass tone I've heard live was from Tool in 2007. I saw them twice; once in Tampa and once at Bonnaroo. It sounded like he EQ'd all the low end out and played through a cheap synth pedal. The rest of the band was great, but man he sounded bad.

The worst band I've seen might be The Offspring. Dude can't sing to save his life. Cracker wins for most boring.

Not the worst, but DEFINITELY the most boring, and the most surprising due to the realization of how damn bored I was which truly I did NOT expect. A few years ago I went to see Steve Vai at the House of Blues in New Orleans as a last minute seat of the pants idea...I knew he would be accompanied by Billy Sheehan and Tony MacAlpine. Sounds pretty interesting, right?

That was the most mind-numbingly boring concert I have EVER attended. It was like being slowly roasted in hell. Sure, Sheehan was great...but not even his virtuosity could save me from the absolute horrid abyss that is Steve Vai's music. Oh God.

.
A friend of mine, who is a prog drummer keeps trying to get me to sit through this whenever I come by his place. I don't get it. Is it meant to be funny/ironic? :D

Hoogie Boogie - makes you want to introduce licensing for instruments doesn't it? Bit like a driving license - you should be a licensed to be allowed to play in public without your parents. The parents of these guys would have crashed them over a cliff to save the innocent.
Nah, Complete is actually 'a thing.' They're just being silly. Taking the piss.

2007 Tool played at Roberts Stadium on tour with a Japanese noise band named Melt Banana. Tool was amazing live! Oh good lord, when Danney Carey did the 46 & 2 drum solo, it was absolute magic. Melt Banana on the other hand, they were wretched! Nothing but loud and fast noise for 55 minutes. The singer had some kind of sampling thing and would auspiciously push a buttom every now and then and it would deafening crap lousy sounds. Close to halfway through set, the audience was booing them. I would put my face in a deep fryer than ever go to another Melt Banana show,... b@!#s too.

I'll happily go on record and say that I've seen both of those bands, and had a much better time when I saw Melt Banana. I wouldn't be interested in seeing them in a stadium setting ... I saw them in probably 2003/2004 at a small local bar/venue. Loud, fast, sweaty, great.

I can't think of a truly terrible national act, though I was a bit disappointed when I saw the Strokes in Austin in 2010. No energy whatsoever in their performance. I get that's kind of their thing, but it just left me feeling very underwhelmed.

I went to see Gigantour (headlined by Megadeth) a couple of years ago. I think there were six bands on the bill, but only five of them played, not sure what happened to the sixth group. Anyways, Megadeth turned out to be the only one worth seeing. With the exception of Black Label Society, I can't even remember the names of the other bands on the bill, but I do remember one of 'em being an outfit with no bass player - still not sure how that happened - the singer was a bald guy named David Draiman (I think?)

Black Label Society was the last band on before Megadeth, and the only other band I was interested in seeing, and they were terrible...okay, they may have played reasonably tight and whatnot, but man, the sound was just awful...and towards the end of their set Zakk Wylde played a solo about eight minutes long...holy crap, what a wankfest, and I'm a guy who generally enjoys guitar solos, but this was just annoyingly over the top, horrific tone, and just not musically interesting.

On the bright side, in 2012 I saw both Deep Purple and Alice Cooper (in different cities/venues.) Talk about absolute professional bands! As far as Purple goes, sadly, Ian Gillan can't scream quite like he used to, but the sheer musicianship and tightness was mind-blowing. Same with Alice Cooper. I never really considered myself a huge Alice Cooper fan, I mean yeah, I knew a lot of his classic tunes and whatnot, but it wasn't like I owned all his albums, was always eagerly awaiting his next release, etc., but him and his group absolutely slayed that night. The funny thing is, I thought he was gonna be blown away by his opener, which was formerly-of-Queensryche Geoff Tate's band...turned out to be the opposite; Tate's group was sort of lame...

I think David Draiman's post-Disturbed project is called Device. They didn't have a bass player? I saw a Nashville band that opened for Demon Hunter and Red back in August called Veridia who didn't have a bass player. All their bass parts were sequenced.
Nope, no bass player, believe me, I was scratching my head at that one. If I remember correctly, for a couple of their tunes one of the players from one of the other bands - I think BLS's bassist (James Lomenzo?) came out and played with them, which made me even more confused, like "Why didn't he and/or one of the bass players from one of the other bands play on your other songs?" Just really strange...o_O

The worst famous band I ever saw was KISS about 3 years ago. I was a big fan of theirs and had seen them many times but on that tour, they were terrible. The opening bands, "Switchblade Suicide" and "The Envy" were also pretty bad.

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones were aweful the only time I saw them. They were playing TD Garden in Boston between periods of a Bruins game. They were so bad that my brother and I walked out into the concourse until the next period started.

Non-Famous bands: this is the worst I've ever heard even though I didn't see them live.

Quick, somebody fill my ears in with cement!

For me, the two worst bands I have ever seen were big name bands. The Grateful Dead in the 1990 something. After Jerry's diabetic coma thing. I left at intermission.

The other was Jimmy Page. Back in '83/'84 he was part of something called the ARMS tour. Beck, Clapton, Page. He was sloppy & pretty much not there. He would have been better off not being there.

I saw a lot of crappy club bands back in the day, but none of them disappointed me so badly as these two.

Back in 2010?....something..... I was touring for the metal band PsyOpus and we jumped onto a tour with Cattle Decapitation for their album release tour, Gigan and Book of Black Earth. We were doing a show somewhere in South, large but decrepit looking club. Anyways, we just loaded are stuff in, got that situated and then some of us, including myself, went to the bar to "start the night". The first local band got up on stage, randomly playing as their sound check and right off the bat, I knew this was going to be bad. Classic, local "BRUTAL metal" kids making noise. Anyways, they were finally ready to do their set and that's when we heard "it". The band started their set off with the theme music of Captain Planet. This all took us by surprise and thought that it was awesome so here's 10 metal guys walking up to the stage, pumped for the local band because of their opening song choice and after the theme music was over, they started their music.......words can't describe the horror of what was going on. No clear notes were being played at all. The guitarist ( no bass player and only the one guitar player) was just throwing his guitar around while strumming strings... No actual clear notes being played. The drummer was in a whole other time zone of playing from the guitarist and the singer sound like he was reciting an argument that a small child would have with a parent...Safe to say, we walked up, stood by the stage, after the first 30 seconds of the music was played, we all walked back to the bar and watched from afar. Not a single person went even remotely close to the stage. After the set, it was the classic " eff you guys, you suck" coming from the singer as they walked off stage. Good times.
