If a tree fell on Jason Newsted while playing bass in Metallica, did he ever make a sound?

As for using a double bass, I had a friend that covered slayer with a DB
The infamous Rick-ebay-cker.

No, that'd be perfect for metal. Metallica wouldn't have had to use any effort at all to bury Cliff Burton in the mix if they just gave him a bass that didn't make any sound in the first place.

Is this a trick question? Nobody listens to the bass in metal bands. If I had never seen one play live, I'd assume metal bands don't usually have a bass player.
And how the hell can you say metalbands don't have a bass player
A band without a bass player isn't a band!-1. I totally disagree. In metal bands, people DO listen to the bass! It's the instrument that makes metal metal! And how the hell can you say metalbands don't have a bass player
