Would this grain mismatch bother you?

Probably not my first choice but I'd get used to it....fretless? And what does the headstock look like?
It would bother me. Given the option, I would choose a different one. If it was the only option, then I would live with it.

Would only really bother me when looking at it hanging in my music room. Doubt anyone would notice on a stage during a show. What brand is it? If it's a budget bass then grain like that is sort of to be expected (which is a reason why you don't usually see a ton of natural or transparent finishes on budget instruments).
Edit: I see now that it's one of the newer Sire MM knockoffs. So not a cheap budget bass from what I can tell.

Yeah, it's a bummer because this one is under 9 lbs, and the other one with really nicely matched grain is 12 oz heavier.

Are you going to play it or just look at it. Being a fretless you will be looking at the neck probably.
Yeah I was going to say, it looks like a 1 piece body so is that really a mismatch? More like just not the most consistent grain but that's wood, it's not going to always look perfect. That being said, I'd have used that particular body for a painted body instead.
I just looked it up. The back is just as bad. No way I could tolerate that.
In the world of mismatched bodies, that is not that bad. I've seen $3000 Les Paul guitars that are much, much worse.
Not the best, but I'd be fine with that. I have a fretted natural Z7-5 and I have more of a mismatch in mine... feels and sounds great so I don't mind.
