If I liked the tone and way it plays, I would get over it. I would rather have something like this than a faux road worn abomination. But I think it would look better with a solid finish. For some reason, I am thinking red .

Absolutely love it... One of the best I've seen in awhile. Who ever put that together is a master.

Bass escapes paint line. Film at eleven.

It's not so much a mismatch as it may be a case of doing the best they could with the material at hand, filling a quota for natural ash finished instruments, the end of a run. It's not so blatant while you're playing it.

Not on an important bass at that price point. IME Sire's QC varies quite a bit. I've seen great ones and others that leave a lot to be desired. I personally feel there are better budget bass options out there.

Here's the back, and it kind of looks like narrow grain ranging to wider grain in the same piece of wood - not as obviously two pieces as I've seen on some Lakland fivers.

I always thought that the Peavey T-40 natural ash bodies were glued together with absolutely no regard to grain matching.

Clearly two piece,but the blend is subtle....And the lines coming up from the lower bouts on both sections is magic.

The contrasting grain patterns make for an arguably attractive look. But, I’m not in love. Seems like you aren’t either, in which case I’d wait for the right one to come up (weight and looks).

Unless maybe you’re facing some kind of bass-buying emergency?
