Would this grain mismatch bother you?

OP. I am assuming that is a 2 piece body and if so, it would bother me because it implies a lack of care selecting the wood. And if that is where you start from, who knows what other lack of care in the build there may be.

I think combining wood is quite an art so as not to have the woods fight or cancel each other.
It may work great but it just as well, might not.

No, but without seeing the back of this bass, it's hard to tell how much mismatch their actually is. You could get a one-piece body that does something similar as the grain orientation transitions from vertical to horizontal across the piece, which looks perfectly natural to me.

This is a one-piece body blank. I like the look.
