Would this grain mismatch bother you?

OP. I am assuming that is a 2 piece body and if so, it would bother me because it implies a lack of care selecting the wood. And if that is where you start from, who knows what other lack of care in the build there may be.

I think combining wood is quite an art so as not to have the woods fight or cancel each other.
It may work great but it just as well, might not.

My 77 Stingray had 3 pcs and w 2 mismatched like that....didn't bother me when I bought it but later did the 40 years I owned it till I sold it very gratefully

same. i'm kinda shocked to see so many definitive "yes" . then again, i don't really like natural too much, so the fact that this is more unique sticks out to me as cooler/more appealing than the average natural

I actually think that's really cool. The bass itself is not my cup of tea, but if I was shopping for that particular model and this one popped up as a lighter weight specimen, I'd be stoked!

I’m not able to say that I have ever seen anything like that. I have had several ebmm basses over many years and would expect better qc. For God’s sake, anything like that should be painted.

It’s a Sire. But that would not bother me, personally.

You'd use naturally pleasing surfaces for natural...You'd think.
For me, that needs to be painted.
But, by the same token, you still need to source quality wood on the builds...

No, but without seeing the back of this bass, it's hard to tell how much mismatch their actually is. You could get a one-piece body that does something similar as the grain orientation transitions from vertical to horizontal across the piece, which looks perfectly natural to me.

This is a one-piece body blank. I like the look.
