OP, if you are looking for a nice P bass and this one suits you, you may consider buying it, but not for that high a price. If you are in the market for a Pino bass, keep looking, because this isn't it. I would not buy this bass for the asking price.

Stripped of the finish it’s no longer a Pino Palladino Relic. It’s just another Fender PB and therefore no longer commands a premium price tag for being a sig model. I’d put it’s new value at about half of what they’re asking.

Yep. If they feed you the now standard refusal claiming they’re concerned that it’ll be used by counterfeiters so they won’t show you the number, then you can be sure it’s a croc.

That or somebody parted out a Pino, and kept the neck (or more likely just scored a Pino sig neck) and has now put it on some other body and is trying to pass it off as the real deal. It’s a crooked practice you sometimes run into in the antiques world called “twinning.” That’s when parts salvaged from some genuine antique are paired with other new or old parts to make a complete item that they then try to sell as all original for top dollar. Kinda like being the Frankenstein monster’s younger richer brother.

From the photos it looks like:
- No Fender logo on front of headstock.
- No Pino signature Decal on back of headstock.
- Bridge is not the same as on Pino bass.
- I’m not sure if the Pino bass has a two piece body or not. Can anyone confirm? (The bass in the OP has a two piece body).

I think part of the beauty with the pino is the color. I would not buy this bass for that reason alone.

I always loved the Palladino signature and I’m tempted, on the other hand there very little proofs that the bass is legit

A major part of its allure is its color. I would not buy that bass for that kind of money. $800 maybe. You can get an incredible MIM Geddy Lee For that.
