I'm glad it fell through. I just picked up a 91 Foundation in Black/maple to exactly replace the one I stupidly sold 6 years ago. I don't think there's a better value anywhere. Dude's out of his mind wanting cash on top of that trade. Cash should be going in the other direction if anything.

Depends what you want in sound....I don't care for the "Boo Boo" tone quality most semi-hollows have (there are a few surprising exceptions that don't)

Other than that, Eastwoods are cool but your Peavey is the better bass, imo
(and - if anything - he should be giving you cash in the trade, not the other way around)

My Axcelerator weighed 8lbs. 9oz. I've never picked up an Axcelerator that weighed much more than that.

But after reading this thread, I had changed my mind about the EW anyway, trade or not.

+1 to the general consensus.
The Peavey 2Tek basses are wonderful - I remember playing a few when they came out, and marveling
at how good they were for the money.
They are hard to find and easy to love. Keep the Peavey. Those Eastwoods are everywhere.

I currently have La Bella stainless on it, although most of my basses have flats.
I've never used tapes, so how do they sound compared to say, La Bella DTF or Chromes?

My J has rounds and this bass is more like my J than my P, and I've never used flats on my J.

In terms of playability and string response, think of that toy guitar you had as a kid with the plastic strings and you’re close. Little vibration, no finger noise, and super smooth. I have not played DTFs but Chromes are brighter than tapes and believe it or not stickier. Tapes and a p pup get you Jamerson thump without the foam and Upright-esq percussion.

I have a VM Jag strung with tapes and I love it. If you need a bit of treble, are a shredder, or want to cut through a mix, these are not the strings for that. If you want to confidently own the low end and make people feel the bass, tapes all day long.
