I just got mine today. It is cool looking. I have a rehearsal with my funk band tonight so I will give you all a run down on how it performs late tonight or tomorrow morning. I never owned the old version but I plan on using it in place of my Deep Impact. Should be an interesting experiement. It does have a 9v DC power jack but the directions say not use a daisy chain. It says only to use the dedicated power adapter that came with it.

as long as your adaptor can supply enough power (ma) to the micro synth and whatever else your running, a daisy chain will be fine IMO
Maybe not. I've had similar issues with other pedals -- most recently Boss Space Echo -- there's incredibly annoying noise if I daisy chain it.
I'm going to try it again with a power block with isolated outputs - that might be what is required for the new BMS.
We will see.

Fair enough... Thats true. I was more thinking about the Daisy Chain side of things I guess. A daisy chain does nothing really. A certain pedal in the chain could be an issue though. Maybe in this case, they are saying the BMS will be the problem and affect other pedals in a chain?

Yeah... Never listen to that rubbish I think it 'may' be a warranty thing too, but how could they ever prove you used another adaptor?

Okay, I had a chance to mess around and figure out the new pedal for about an hour before the rest of the band showed up. Here is my take on the first run:
Pros: First off it is fun. Good sounds to cover the Herbie Hancock tunes. Bypass sounds clean to me.
Cons: didn't work with daisy chain power. Decay of a note is abrupt. Doesn't do well on the B string from Eb and below.
So the daisy chain thing... I tried using it with the daisy chain from my Boss tuner with the One Spot adapter powering the tuner and the BMS as the third pedal. It just didn't work. No sound. I tried using the supplied power supply as the power source for the tuner and daisy again... Still no sound. However, if I power the BMS directly with either the one spot or the EH power supply, it works fine. I guess you really can't daisy chain it for some reason. I have no idea how it knows or why it cares if it is on the daisy.
Here is my power chains that didn't work:
One Spot -> Boss Tuner -> BassCompactor -> BMS = No Sound
EH Adapter -> Boss Tuner -> BassCompator -> BMS = No Sound
Only if I powered the BMS directly, with either the EH or the One Spot adapters, did it actually function. I did not try taking the Bass Compactor out of the power chain yet.

if you run daisy chain -> tuner - > compactor, does the compactor work? It might be a problem with your tuner daisychain output, regardless of the BMS being there or not...
Looks like it reverses the polarity then so that it uses a positive ground or something. I believe you could still use it on a daisy chain using a virtual battery ([Invalid or Expired Link Removed]), but that costs the same as getting a separate power supply.
The BMS doesn't really "sustain" notes, unfortunately. But if it's like the old one, there might be a trimpot inside to tweak the decay time.
Also, regarding the daisy-chain issue... it's more than polarity. It's an issue of circuit design. The old BMS had this problem; pedals with positive-ground circuit designs will not work on a daisy chain with most other pedals, since most pedals have the traditional negative-ground approach. You'll run into this problem on a few different pedals, especially with vintage pedals like the Fuzz Face.
Reverse-polarity plugs are not a sure-fire indication of how the circuit works. Reverse-polarity plugs are indeed the common standard for such circuits... but as with the EHX Nano Muff and Nano Clone (which have standard Boss-style jacks), this isn't always the case.
But just to be sure... do your Bass Compactor and tuner still work? If all three cease to function when they're on a daisy chain together, then you'll have to stick to the wall wart, or use an isolated-output power brick/supply (which the 1 Spot is not).

Yes, my other pedals work fine in the chain. I use it all the time. It also worked fine when I had the Deep Impact in there instead of the BMS.
You know, I didnt' really notice if the other pedals stayed on wihen I switched the BMS to the on possition. Of course the tuner would be off anyway. I don't recall seeing the Bass Compator LED go out when I clicked on the BMS, but I didn't make a point to notice that. I will have to check that out next time.
I don't get this. It just looks like a basic redesign of the old BMS plus it's not really less expensive. What's the hoopla?

Smaller, true-bypass (presumably - better be anyway because the old unit's bypass was terrible), 9v, stronger enclosure - seems to fix everything that was wrong with the old one.
probably wouldnt work with a dc brick either huh? cuz its not isolated? just the voodoo one? so buying the bms for almost 300, and then a new isolated power supply for almost 200?? woo sounds like a steal of a deal... lame?!
