So do those who own the BMS (either model) agree that it doesn't work well below E? That may just curb my gas.

I never tried it with a 5 string when I had the older one, unfortunately. But it worked fine on drop-D.
Actually, I'm curious by what he meant when he said it didn't work well... that could mean anything.
Never tried it below E, but honestly it sounds better higher up to me - you get more out of the filter. If you tend to spend most of your time in the lowest regions of your range then you could probably do without one.

I haven't tested it down to the low E in all settings, but my standard settings definitely start to sound weak as you decend. It really sounds at its best above low A IMO.
Anyone has A/Bed the older BMS with the XO BMS? I'm curious to see if there are any other differences other than the size and power requirements.
Yeah, what I meant was when I play notes on the B string below E is sounds bad. The sub-oct doesn't track anymore and makes ugly noises.
Same as with all sub-octaves in the world. Even the Depp Impact gets gargly at this point.

Well an octave below the D on the B string is only 18.354 hz, which isn't even an audible note. So I wouldn't expect it to output a note that sounds like anything other than bubbily garbage
Yup, that is the case indeed. bubbily garbage on Eb and below. Minor issue really. I just wanted to report thoroughly on my expirience.
I have used this pedal on a few gigs and rehearsals now. it is fun and I will leave it on my pedal board and use it when appropriate. It has successfully taken the place of my Deep Impact. I like analog effects like this BMS better then the digital Deep Impact. It just has a better, more musical feel to it.

Oh, really? I've had quite a bit of luck on the low notes on my sixer. Sounds like six stages of neat to me.
But, as long as the volume drop issue stands, and I've emailed EHX for an official solution (I'm looking into all of my options), I'm not really able to incorporate mine into my full pedal rig. And no, the XO model isn't a viable solution (it costs $200 that I need not spend on the same effect twice - it's going to the "Lahey Going To The Liquor Store Fund").

Not my Deep Impact. It sounded fine on all presets from low B up to the highest B (23rd fret) on the C string. Even the manual said it was designed to recognize all the notes within this range. Sure enough, when I'd play high C (24th fret) on the C string I'd get garbled garbage.
Well you can always get an X-Blender and mix dry ound outside of the BMS. Or do a dual loop and run an octaver parallel along side the BMS.

I hear ya man. There is always a solution with time, money and effort. but wouldn't it be nice to click on one pedal, get the sound you want, and click it off and get a nice clean sound? the new BMS is really close so I am using it. Maybe I should learn how to build my own pedals. 
so actually what's the big deal with this new BMS? same price,9V but not working wih chain cable(so useless) a little smaller....comon ... at least if it had an expresion pedal in ... sry but I bet that the old one is better

Smaller, more durable enclosure = plus
True-bypass switch = plus
9V power = plus
No daisy chain = tie (the old one required a seperate power suply anyway)
Same price = tie (I sold my old one and bought the new one for a net cash outlay of $41. A better toy for $41 is an easy call for me.)
Unless the sound is significantly sub-par vs. the old one, I can't see a reason to NOT get new one.
I just finally gave in to the GAS and ordered one. I'll try to put up a review and some clips once it gets in if I get time.
