Middle of the road model from the first generation. Not the real deal. It has J bass neck dims & the thin plastic nut.

Side Note! I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole due to the frets being knocked out.
I have tons of ATT info on my hard drive. Prints, DXF's, Cad drawings & specs on file. I've also owned quite a few of them, all makes & models but the real deal to me is the first generation 2's.

I never had much playing time way up there but IIRC it is done so there is no wood to string contact and bending up on the strings would be smoother.

Personally I've grown to greatly dislike the scalloped frets over the years. I personally get no benefit out of them, and find the strings jiggle around too easy when I'm trying to fret in those areas.
I have a Yamaha Attitude Standard 5 blue 5-string bass that looks like it's done in the same series as )):'s bass, same headstock and logos, made in taiwan, serial number HH03219, 2 pickups (P neck, J bridge) 3-position switch...
Asking to the connoisseurs of Attitude: do you know (approximately) when my bass is made?
I'm working in a music store, I bought a Jay Turser Beatle Bass last winter to sound like the Beatles with flatwound strings (I'm planning to create a retro-sounding music project), there after, I looked for a bass that sounds like a big chunky solid Precision, so I tried many basses in my store -a beat-up Music Man S.U.B, a 24-fret NRJ bass (made in Quebec, looks almost like a Rickenbacker), a cheap Charvel, several Yamahas and Ibanez smaller bodies, a 6-string fretless Dean... my pick stopped to a 5-string Yamaha Attitude Standard 5 bass, I felt it sounded closer to Led Zep & most of 70's music ... it can sound funky as well, plenty of midrange...a great bass with a big neck that I'm getting fond of it
Recently, the bridge pickup seemed to die. I thought it was a problem in the toggle switch, i re-solder it, the pickup restarted to work... and the next day, the pickup died again. I rebuild an all-new Jazz Bass-type circuit using 2 volumes-1 tone, removing the toggle switch. The pickup restarted to work... and then died the next day.
I figured to 1) order a jazz 5-string replacement pickup
-or
2) let the instrument simply as a Precision-type one pickup bass.
So I chose the latter
And I still like it a big lot, despite losing 2 additional pickup tones... it makes me bringing more tones from my playing (pick-thumb-fingers...)
Maybe a big humbucker closer to the neck would be cool on my 5-string!

I once tried this beast at a yamaha store, and I have to say that other than this Musicman stingray I used own, its the best bass Ive played. Playability and sound-wise.
Though, I would be really self-conscious of playing onstage. Ive got insecurity issues about people expecting me to shred my bass at 500bpm when they see an attitude. : p

HaHa!! Funny you say that because the 1st time i took mine to rehearsal my guitarist instantly says "cool bass, let's play addicted to that rush!" and proceeds to whip out the intro. I looked at him and said ARE YOU NUTS??? I cant play that!!!! we played in a funk band too...go figure
My Attitudes!!! The Red Att 2, 2nd generation sits under the bed & it is my back up just in case the black one goes down. The Black on Black ATT 2, 1st generation has been modified by myself & it is my baby. She has been used & abused for close to 1200 gigs. I needed a J bass tone & a bass for the slap & pop, so I picked up a 1st generation Attitude Standard & did some mods to bring it up to snuff with the Limiteds.
