Rick - Very nice collection!

Thanks Mark! I had a ATT 10th anny & a few other low lines at one point or another but I did not care for them. I love these basses. Nice thing about the 1st generation standard, it is the same body as the Limiteds so I could always get a Limited neck & bolt it on.

This one's been my no.2 bass since '93 and is now back to no.1 while the P gets an overhaul. A very well used bass.

Oh! My! God! I did the humbucker raising mod and it has changed the tone incredibly!!!!
Any 1st gen owners have as much trouble though? I raised the actual pickup but had clearance problems because they both (Pup and cover) have their own recessed points on the body. After much fiddling I got it but would like the HB higher. Not possible without removing the cover????

You kind of lost me?? Could you put some pictures up of the cavity, the cover & such . I didn't have any problems with my ATT's. I do have a machinist background & the tools to widdle at things though. Once I see maybe I could help you out.

I'll post it up soonish. I only got it back together and set up last night and I'm having way too much fun.
Until then maybe a clearer expanation would help.
The pickup can be raised with foam or the like but the cover hits the pickup before seating in it's own screw holes. I'm guessing I'll have to jack the cover up some as well.

Hi there and congratulations for your basses. I had an Attitude Standard a while ago and I'm planning to recover it cos' I miss too much the thin neck profile and the tall frets, the only thing that doesn't convince me yet is the neck dive, any advices in how to correct this? beside the big strap which will eventually take out my tshirt and other question, does any of you guys have ever tried a bass with a neck profile as thin as this one? can you please tell me which one? Thanks in advance and sorry for the dumb question, I think is a common issue.

P.S. I read in some review that you can change the lower strap pin position to correct the neck dive, does it works??

I have never had any neck dive issues with any of my Attitudes. Re-evaluate how you strap it on and how it sits.

Hi, i dont go on forums very often (sorry!) so please forgive me if this request is not welcome here, but i need some info which i cant find anywhere - Im building a Sheehan Attitude inspired bass and have all the parts and have fitted the p bass pickup and custom pickguard etc.
The last bit i need info on is how the woofer fits and how the cover fits?
Is the woofer fitted flush to the pickguard then the cover is one flat piece of plastic screwed over?
Or does the pickup stick out from the scratchplate and the cover have a cavity area on the back for the pickup to go into? (ie like a tub type shape?)
Hope this makes sense and someone can help me? hopefully show me some pics too?

Like this.

There is a route in the body for the pickup to go into, just like any other pickup. How else would you adjust the height?

Got my mucky little hands on a thunder blue attitude 1 just a few weeks ago.A mere 450squids!.After 20years of searching,man am i happy.Sounds unreal through my Marshall super bass 100 stack.Just gotta get over the fear of anything happening to it being they only made 300 of them.

i)go through the cover then through the pickup then into the body or
ii)is the pickup screwed into the body then the cover screwed straight into the body in seperate holes or
iii)is the pickup screwed into the body then the cover screwed through the pickguard then into the body?

Its fairly hard to explain these questions or the answers without actually seeing it. So close-up photos of the cavity with and without the pickup and with and without the cover would be great.

The pickup is not screwed into the body, at least not on mine. It sits on 4 little foam squares. The cover screws into the body. From what I recall, it covers the top of the pickup only.

The pickup is like DiMarzio guitar humbuckers- only two ears for screws, but there aren't any screws.

It sits in a routing on the neck & then the cover is routed to fit the pick up shape, it slides over it & holds it down. The screws of the cover hold it all in place.

Thankyou so much! That is exactly what i needed to know! I have a feeling the aftermarket Will Power pickup may be slightly different to the stock installed one but you have helped me out alot, and i have been searching for this answer for weeks!

No problem Kris. I took lots of pics when I had my ATT2 apart doing my mods. I also drew it out in AutoCad & made a model body out of plywood. The off the shelf Will Power will not fit. I bought one just in case the stock PUP ever went down on me. I did my mods & tested the WP before I put it back together with the Stock Woofer.
